Nexus Prime

It'll use the same 1/3.2" 8MP Omnivision unit in the Bionic/Droid 3 (plus OMAP4460 for ISP/PP) http://www.anandtech.com/show/4910/motorola-droid-bionic-review-dual-core-with-4g-lte/6

It is a pentile afaik, but I'm not sure you can compare it to the 3.7/4" pentiles of old, they were 233-252ppi, this one will be 315ppi so a fairly large increase which may reduce/eliminate the issues...

4.3" qHD = 256ppi, pentile will make it feel like 170ppi at times (worst case sub pixel sharing) just like a N1/Desire.
The SGS2 is still the best all round Android phone and will be for another 4-6 months. We''re just seeing more viable alternatives with the Nexus/Razr etc :p

Oh dear what a let down, poor show google you touted it as a high end phone, when in reality it's nothing special.

Im sitting on the fence for now, really hoping those specs are incorrect.

The new razr is looking very impressive. The spec is probably closer to what people are expecting of the nexus. Might sway my decision once the nexus is released.

It's dimensions and materials look quite appealing, reportedly higher MP count on the camera but that doesn't mean anything until tests are done really.

Anything else I'm missing that's in the RAZR's favour?

The new Razr looks great, but no ICS = fail for me. If it had ICS, I'd have a serious problem deciding between the Galaxy Nexus and the Razr.

Thought it was 1280x720?

Well that's why i can't understand it running at 1.2ghz, it's an omap 4460 so should be 1.5ghz.

Plus im very dubious about it having just 5mp when all the rest are 8mp and beyond, can't see google doing that.

oh i dont know what to look for, ill wait until tomorrow but atm i am swaying towards that new razr the more i look at the 2 phones! really do want a phone with a half decent camera after having the desire for 18 months!

i reckon it will be a 1.5 cpu!

The 1.5GHz S3 snapdragon will be a bit slower than OMAP4 @ 1.2Ghz (similar GPUs)

With Snapdragon S3 under the hood, the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II is not as assertive in its performance as the rest of the GSM sporting, Galaxy S II lineup

TI have messed up, the 4460 is now just a overclocked 4430 (if rumours are true)

Thought it was 1280x720?

...and let Moto use a sAMOLED HD screen before anything else? No chance :p

Razr hands on vid.

Reckon it's possible that Asian/Japanese market might get a different Galaxy Nexus to the rest of the world?

Might explain some of the leaks regarding differing specs.

I would be surprised if the latest leaked specs are true, it seems a backward step from the GS2 in almost everything apart from screen resolution. Screen size and resolution would have been good enough for me had the rest been AT LEAST the same as the S2...

Well had a quick nose around the forums, seems everyone else is at a loss and are questioning the leaked specs as well.

Guess i'll be sitting on the fence until tomorrow.

As e36 says, can't see google taking a step back, specially when it's a samsung phone anyway.

I'm hoping the leaked specs aren't true, but I wouldn't be too surprised if they were.

The first Nexus phones haven't really been built as technological milestones, more so just to help push new software versions out and to make sure a certain level of hardware decency is maintained (this was more the case with the N1, not so much the NS). I'd be happy for Google to break the trend and come out with a killer here, but who knows.

We'll find out in a few hours though!

The previous nexii haven't been milestones but they haven't been worse then the best phones out there though:

Nexus 1 == Desire
Nexus S == Galaxy S
Nexus Prime < Galaxy S2???

Nexus S was beaten within 2 months of release by a range of dual core phones. It was and still is a ripoff. Also the Nexus phones haven't had the best cameras on release.

Nor is the Prime definitely worse than the GS2. On balance it is better imo, but I suspect people were expecting a jump which isn't always the case.

N1 was a bit better than the Motorola Droid and the Nexus S sat amongst a wide range of 1Ghz phones.

It was/still is a good phone and it was never part of the my spec is better than your spec race. The Prime is more about being an LCS platform/showcase then it is about being a powerhouse. I think some people are probably raising their expectations to high. Anyway we might me pleasantly surprised later on tonight.

How is responding to my post, completely ignoring the post I have quoted, a useful exercise?

As for the phone, it doesn't provide value for money? It was released at something like £400 amongst serious competition. Even now it sits at £275 ish.
