NFL 2024 season

Yeah, I stayed up to watch it, quite an odd game. On the one hand, I would claim Washington deserved the win, on the other hand, we probably didn't deserve it failing so badly in the Red Zone so many times... Without wanting to start an argument, a better team would have buried us. (And to level things, I still think we're being overrated by everyone.)

What I did realise (and kind of miss) when you watch one game rather than Red Zone, you have much less idea of what's going on around the league! (Sorry, maybe an obvious statement)

Caleb looked bad though but without re-watching I'm not sure how much of that is on him vs the revolving door at oline vs play calling.
Interestingly, despite shipping two great DE's, we're getting reasonably good pressure on QB's (maybe this is why we shipped them?) so Caleb wasn't in an easy position quite often. Personally, I think you guys should be very happy though. Physically, I think I've seen Caleb do things that I'm not sure even someone like Maholmes would be able to do. (He's made some ridiculous passes while on the move)

As a Commanders fan, I don't know if it wasn't better when I just knew my team was going to lose... Tbh, I went into yesterday expecting to lose to the Steelers, but was then given hope. I was a little surprised by the spot on the 4th down that rather ended it all, albeit maybe a few inches short, but definitely not a yard short!

Very well timed tackle to stop Ertz where they did, but as you say super tough to even know where to spot that.
Yeah, definitely, it was a fantastic stop. I guess I was annoyed the person that spotted it ran from the line of scrimmage and spotted it a yard short of a 1st down. Clearly in the replay he'd caught it at about the unofficial line/41 and then got pushed/moved slightly back. Forward progress should have meant at least a measure, but I accept it did look like he didn't quite have enough for a first.

As I often say though, you never win or lose a game on one play. There were lots of plays that could have been different which would have changed the result (failed fake punt, muffed punt, drop on 3rd down before the 4th in which we failed, jumping off-sides when clearly that's all they were trying to get us to do etc)

What was going on with the Bears clock management? I commented to friends with about 1:10 left that Williams seemed a little too casual. Then at the end of the play at 33s my brother was screaming at them to take a TO, while I was saying 'no, keep that, complete a quick pass over the middle and call the TO for the FG attempt'. Neither of us had considered option 3, casually wonder around, wait until you know its the last play and then bounce the ball of the turf somewhere near the sideline. Kind of obvious, when you think about it...

**Plot twist** The Bears have been trying to lose these games. The hail mary, the blocked kick... it's all part of their plan!

Interesting game for me as a Commanders fan, late last night. Unfortunately, Daniels big numbers putting us in the playoffs has cost me my Fantasy Final :( (Unless Kittle can have a HUGE game tonight)

Well, that would need all the divisions to be clumped into just the conference. As said above, how it is means you win your division, you get a home game, which I can see the reasoning behind.

@AndyCr15 You must be ecstatic given the result this weekend. :)
Yeah, although when a game is close like that, I can't enjoy it in the moment, as I'm just waiting for it to go wrong

I feel like the pressure is off against the Lions as I assume no-one gives us a chance and we're expected to get battered...

I think the off season will be interesting. Will we attract more talent wanting to jump on the Daniels hype train? Next year's schedule looks pretty tough, so we'll need a better D!

It reminded me of the then Redskins run to SB22 by winning at the then all conquering Bears in the playoff game
I remember listening to that game on the armed forces radio, Darrell Green returning a punt for a score. Great memories.
Redskins/Commanders in their first championship game since 1991.
Yep, and whilst I could hope it's the first of many with Daniels at the helm, I'm wondering if we make it to the Superbowl, do I need to crack into my savings and get myself to New Orleans...

I almost felt sorry for the Lions though. What do they need to do?! Poor bleeders... Mind you, we could battle them for 'who's had the worst last 30 years' I guess.
