NHS computer systems hacked!?

I was trying to make the point that it's not MS's fault entirely - clients know when a product is going EoS, and should have a suitable plan in place. They would have had plenty of notice. The NHS IT have been totally remiss here, and the buck should stop with them.

Not if they have to work within the rules and regulations that government sets and expect them to do it on no funding?

Thinking about this... what would have happened if the NHS files were all deleted?

I mean if the NHS is anything to go by nowadays, it probably has bare minimum of back ups, could the NHS have literally failed?

Those files would definitely end up on dark web...

So it's basically confirmed that this entire debacle is the result of removed funding for IT security by the Tories (I assume Hunt, May and Cameron all have to be involved in some sense), but yet the country is steadfast supporting them in a few weeks.

Oh man, it'd be hilarious if it wasn't more so tragic.

Anyone that died because of this is on May's hands and anyone still voting for them more so.

Confirmed that this worldwide attack is somehow the tories and their voters faults? lol.

Don't be obtuse... If the systems were funded to be secure/at least updated to something beyond the now ancient WinXP, this would have been incredibly unlikely to have occurred.

They removed funding for XP security, so yes it is THEIR fault.

The least they could to do was to keep funding it and force the NHS to update, rather than just leaving it completely undefended and asking a massive organisation to change within 3 years.

The Government should stop funding Microsoft and start funding Linux.

If it was only the NHS that was affect I would be inclined to agree, but it isn't so you're just swinging the political **** stick around in a rabid student like fashion.

If there had been mass funding of IT development in the NHS then everyone would be whinging about why the money wasn't being spent on cancer drugs. Get back to watering your money tree.

What?...

The fact that Portugal Telecom or the Russian government was also attacked, shouldn't remove blame for a **** government decision.

It was a failure on past and present governments. You are solely focusing on the Conservative government because it suits your narrative.

Big companies, both private and public, search the dark web for information that may have been stolen from them and do buy it back... Not quite sure it does anything to prevent the information just being sold over and over again.

Were all the other systems hit also using XP

Well unfortunately for the Tories, they have the mantle, they've done **** all with it, so i can only complain. Unquestionably, this helps May and her drive for her autocratic hell hole run by algorithm, as she'll be improving GCHQ/NCCA/NCA ability to work unhinged.

Or maybe because they are skinning every public service to the bone so they can give a TAX break to the wealthiest people in the country!

Tory party, putting the N back into CUTS!

Throwing £11 billion at the NHS didn't exactly fix anything either, so in my eyes it's once again **** poor economic and technical management by the trusts. Throwing money at stuff just does not fix it, it just fuels the political fire and pushes the problem further down the line for future generations to solve.

It's about time the NHS was taken away from ANY government control. All parties have failed to show they can take care of it.

Ive updated Defender, but ive not had any updates for my Win 7, since they changed em to the Win 10s way, so downloaded this one from the catalogue :- March, 2017 Security Only Quality Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4012212), which i got from here :- https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/ms17-010.aspx, via the Win 7 64bit SP1 link down in the 'Affected Software' list.

Is that the right one i need to install ? (as theres another one underneath it called March, 2017 Security Only Quality Update for Windows 7 (KB4012212), which is only 18.8mb, but im guessing thats for 32bit).

Thanks.

EDIT: Shes In! :D
