Because some of the things they are being given free feel frivolous. And it’s unfair to other key workers who get nothing.

Why does it bother you that NHS staff are getting free items you consider frivolous anyway?

Key workers are important, but I don't think any of them begrudges NHS staff getting free stuff, I certainly wouldn't.

You just sound bitter about it for some reason. Strange that people literally saving lives day in and day out and exposing themselves to Covid have irked you so much.

Console yourself with the fact that once this is all over they'll be back to being **** on again by the tories as they go back to their lifelong mission of destroying the NHS and anything in the public sector, whilst transferring taxpayers money to the private sector as free from tax as possible, with little to no responsibility or penalty for lousy delivery of the public services they replaced.

Without them, there would be no NHS. So they are saving lives. Delivery food, saving lives, driving trains saving lives, collecting bins saving lives, etc etc etc

So whilst the free stuff for the NHS workers is great, and well deserved, it would be nice if other key workers were recognised for the important role they are performing to keep everybody safe.

I agree but we know it won’t happen.

Let's not get into that debate... there are lots of sides to it, with many NHS staff not being patient facing, healthcare workers in social care and community pharmacists (to name two) are patient facing but not NHS, and many non-healthcare workers performing key roles right now and are exposed to the general public in high numbers. I don't begrudge NHS workers getting the free stuff, but I also think it unfair that other key workers don't get the same stuff, but I understand the challenge of implementing controls by working with certain work badges and email domains.

That's that... now please stick to game discussion.

non NHS key workers aren't working gruelling hours, they aren't working with patients that have covid-19, they aren't at greater risk of being infected, they aren't having to live away from their families. Too many people have a something for nothing attitude and/or get upset when someone else benefits.

I really don't care about those that stand outside and clap, the viral videos, or that they benefit from whatever it is they receive. But I do feel empathy for what their doing.

Umm do you actually work for the NHS? pretty poor posting if you don't.

Oh, it's an internal link? Hahaha, I thought it was just a general link. I have a friend in the UK who does so sent it to him. Maybe he'll get some use out of it.

The ones in bold are private sector, those businesses can (and should) reward their own employees appropriately out of their own profits.

These NHS giveaways are starting to get a bit silly now.

I agree their is other works that are essential and you never hear about them.

These NHS people are trained to do this for a living in the good and bad times why should they be made in to these superstars with all these perks it's silly plus nothing is free us other people will be paying for it in some way.

By the way in case people think I am hating on the NHS I am not I have friends and family that have or still are working for them.

Instead of turning on the people who work for the nhs, just say something like 'its a shame there isnt something similar for other key workers'. Or whatever.

i agree to an extent. nhs are still working and getting full pay, as well as plenty of handouts. its the people who've lost their incomes and are really struggling that i feel sorry for.

There's quite a few here stating they are not going back to their office environments for fear of COVID, so saying about NHS staff, "it's their job" is absolute b0ll0cks. They signed up to take care of people, this pandemic is a rare occurrence.

During operations/conflicts, the military are put in more danger than peacetime roles, so they get an operational bonus ie hazard pay. They also get discounts, stuff from companies flown out to them, celebrity visits etc. So i have no issue with the NHS getting whatever is thrown at them - this is THEIR operational bonus and well deserved. I personally think those at the front line should receive an extra daily allowance.

The issue is that anyone with an NHS email can get these offers, i would have preferred to have seen it for the front line workers only, not those sat in offices or WFH - it is the men and women exposed to the virus daily who are putting their own and families lives at risk.
