Nice pongs and gorgeous whiffs. The Aftershave thread!

Wow, bargain, is that a legit site?

I've used them before for Christmas presents - quick delivery and reasonably good customer service but I think some of their products are along the lines of "grey" imports and sometimes out of (UK/US) region products aren't quite the same quality even though genuine.

Thanks Rroff, I've decided to place an order, £37 was a price too good to turn down.

I'm not sure how "grey" an import it can be as a British brand of aftershave, but I do see they are Gurnsey based so that most likely helps!

Note you might get stung for customs duty.....

Nate

Shouldn't from AB they take care of that.

For instance one time the packaging had stickers on top of printed empty rectangles on the box whereas on the UK stuff its printed on the box and the caps were plastic that looks like metal while on the UK stuff they are aluminium - checked with the manufacturer and they confirmed it was genuine but export version not what they sell in the UK. In some cases you might find scents are slightly different to what is sold to Western markets if it is an export version as they might be tweaked to appeal more in other regions, etc.

Mostly though its been the same stuff as the UK.

Good to know, thanks

Nate

From their FAQ:

Don't worry, sales taxes & VAT on orders dispatched within the European Union (EU) are all pre-paid by us. You can shop with confidence at allbeauty.com knowing that the price you see, is the price you pay.

Please note: We have no control over taxes and fees on orders sent outside of the EU. Please contact your local customs office for details of any possible charges prior to placing your order.

Supposedly if you do get a fake from them they will replace it no problem and also pay any additional taxes if you are invoiced depending on how they were incurred.

I’m thinking of buying a 50ml bottle of Tom ford, what are we recommending ?

I’m either thinking Oud Wood, or Tobacco Vanille.

What are people’s opinions ? Which one is better of the two ?

Edit. Or is there something better than the two of those ? There’s quite a few to choose from. Unfortunately I dont have the means to test any of them :(

Noted on the Rain Forest, Hai Karate has been revived.

Couldn't help myself, if only for the lolz.

Actually not too bad if vaguely reminiscent of a good 20/50 motor oil in aroma...

I wouldn't blind buy these or any TF fragrance. Just because they are expensive doesn't mean they will smell good to you. I don't like Tobacco Vanille, smells like Christmas pudding to me. I did own a bottle of Oud Wood but moved it on after a few wears, as I didn't like it enough to justify the price.

My favourite from Tom Ford is Tuscan leather, which could be consider quite polarising.

I've got Oud Wood, Ombre Leather 16 and Noir de Noir. I got a little sample of Tobacco Vanille. Which is really nice.

Between the two you picked I would go for the Tobacco Vanille. Oud Wood doesn't seem to last long once sprayed but I guess it depends how strong of a scent you like. Tobacco Vanille is a really strong scent though.

In case you are interested, Noir de Noir has a kind of Turkish Delight smell to it which I quite like.

Edit: As per the post above if I wouldn't get either blind. They are nothing alike and one is much stronger than the other and at the price point could be something you regret.

I don't have it but Tobacco Vanile gets good reviews. I'd probably choose that over the two (would always try to find somewhere to test it first of course).

I like very muted tobacco mixed with leather and soapy smell - sadly doesn't seem to be many that do it well. The one I found did it well sadly turned out to be a mistake at the factory and when they corrected it - well I dunno what they were thinking as the "mistake" was far better the correct version is all bubblegum and cherry type scents.

Okay cheers guys. Looks like I’ll hold fire for now.

Unfortunately nowhere where I live stocks Tom ford. So I’d have to order samples off the internet before hand.

I think I’ll stick with Dior Fahrenheit EDP for now and do a little more research.

If you trust/message me your address I can you send you my Tobacco Vanille sample if you want. I've used half of it but it will give you an idea what it's like still.

Is there not a John Lewis relatively nearby?

Thanks for the offer mate, I appreciate it! I’ve ordered some samples off the internet already though. Cheers.

Not in the Channel Islands. Nope :/

Are there any high street shops that so testers of the Creed fragrances? I'm quite tempted now that I've discovered Finescents, but fancy giving them a try before I go ahead and purchase.
