Couple of weeks ago, i pick up a D40 for £246, as i light travel backup to my D300.

Sold the 18-55mm kit lens & bought a 2nd hand 18-70mm for £130 as this lens will stay permantly attached to the D40

& i must say this D40 has been a joy to use, ive used it more than my D300 over the past couple of weeks.

So this thread is dedicated to all things D40 such as pictures of your D40 kit, pictures you've took with the D40, also the things you like about the camera & things you don't like.

Here my little D40 with the 18-70mm attached makes for a great walk about setup.

Got my D40 last summer, and love having it. Even as a beginner SLR, it'll be a long time before it is the camera limiting me, and not my ability.

The great thing about the D40 is it's mirror slap it very quiet compared to my D300, basically because it part electrical, were as the D300 is fully mechanical.

I love my D40! :D

Most of the stuff in my flickr is D40 taken (well not most, the first couple of pages :p)

My 12 year old brother spent my entire wedding day wondering around with my D60 and I was quite surprised by how nice some of his shots are. Granted it was on auto settings and he wasn't taught about photography rules but he got some nice candid shots.

As such, I think he may be getting a D40 for his birthday in a couple of months. As such, I am hoping to see some nice kits, advice and photos in here to provide extra leverage to help get all his brothers to chip in for it :D

I had a D40 but got a little bored with it, specially because I had already used them in college, it then broke on me so I got a Sony a200k. Sometimes I wish I hadn't gone for a completely different brand. But then again, this is my first DSLR, so if I do want to take photography further on in my life, I could always sell the Sony and buy Nikon as I did like it, just wanted a change. meh

So yeah XD

Talking about the D300 here a pic took with the D40 & the kit lens it came with.

Tell ya what the standard kit lens that comes with the D40 isn't half bad.
