Nikon D810.

Do you notice an improvement in the viewfinder? apparently the Df has a better viewfinder than the D600/D800/D4/s and the D810 inherited the same viewfinder. Not supposedly a huge difference but a little bigger and brighter

It's a bit brighter. The red light that lights up the grid and af point is a little too bright compared to the d800 imo, but overall the D810 feels marginally nicer to look through, at least for me.

Just another small improvement I guess, but this one wasn't even mentioned in the press release.

Rhys - do you only use 9 focus points then? It's an interesting method and makes things easier i suppose than using 51 or whatever it is...i might try this on my canons.

I've found the D810 to be significantly brighter .... one of the first things I noticed. Again, far better than on the D800E.

yeah, some people on Dpreview and other forums have commented to that effect and the same was said about the DF

This is the difference between them. D800E has a browner tinge. D810 appears more 'clear'.

It's 11 AF points, but yes I only use them. Personally I'm only interested in compositionally significant AF points. For me anymore than that just slows me down from where I want to be and is a hindrance rather than a benefit.

i think i may change to the 15 point option on my 5d iii's. Got a wedding on sat so won't do it now as i'll need to get used to it, but i can't help feeling that it's going to save time not having to skip through all those af points. Nice one

Whilst it can be a pain moving through so many points at times, every time I've tried reducing the number drastically, I immediately find a shot where I want the point somewhere it won't go :)

I just restrict mine to the cross-types now.

Have a good practice and see how you get on. No way would I ever consider using 51 points for times when I need to be on my toes.

I always use the reduced points as well. On the 1Ds2 especially it speeds things up when I use the 11 points rather than the whole spread (you use the scroll wheels to select points).

I've never used any of these ultra mega tracking modes using the 1000 AF points available. I pick a point and keep that on target (well try to :D). I'd be perfectly happy with an 11 AF point camera, all cross point down to -4EV of course :D

I've bought 2 D810's today. One from jessops that lasted 4 shots before the "rear curtain" locked up (down) and the camera powered off and stayed that way.

Jessops have no stock in store so would have been a nearly a week to replace. so cancelled and bought another from my local Wilkinsons.

Happy again.
