Nildram

A regrade means a change of speed.

Probably best to phone up AOL when you've migrated and make sure they close your account off properly.

So, in other words dont cancel AOL yet?
Once ive migrated, cancel my account.

What about payment to Nildram? is that automatic?

All Nildram ADSL products have a monthly contract, unless you go on Surf 500 and defer the activation cost.

On how much one can download p/month/?

Your total download limit (anything you download, webpages, files, using online games etc) is 50db.

You can download as much as you want in off peak time. I think this is 21:00 to 09:00. Its only the files you download during the day that you are limited to 50gig for.

As for usenets, it is a 20g limit as mentioned above.

Hi guys,

Keeping these up-to-date here.

Going through the online process and it gives me 3 options:

Dynamic IP (recommended for most users) - no extra cost
8 Static IP addresses (£5.00 per month)
Single Static IP address (£2.98 per month

Which is the best one to have, and whats a static better than a dynamic

If you don't know what a static IP is, then you obviously don't need one :p

Basically it means you get the same IP every time you connect to the internet, rather than having a dynamic one assigned from a pool every time. AOL use dynamic IP's.

Sorry, i know what they are but whats the best? why would I want to keep the same? surely thats less security?

edit: What about accessing PC remotely, can I do that with a dynamic?

yea you can, you setup something like no-ip.org or something *i think*
it is less secure because your ovbiously having the same IP throughout the use of the line which means hackers can sit hacking if they wanted

Absolute rubbish.

Static IP's are not more secure, regardless of what certain people say.

If they want to hack you, they'll do it if you have a static or dynamic IP.

Ok, thanks.

So, now to clear this up abit I have to enter my bank detials for nildram send them off and when I get confirmation of its all installed. I then cancel AOL account, then pay transfers from AOL to Nildram? or do i have to set that up manually?

Ok, i havnt actually migrated yet, ive got the ,MAC code from AOL, which im going through the online process now on nildrams site , entering bank details.

But then I thought when would AOL stop? when ive actually migrated? They will know will they when ive actually 'migrated' ?
