Ninja Gaiden II

Im more excited for this than I was for GTA4 , Ninja Gaiden was the best title on the xbox imo.

Got NG2 preordered from the UK , via my mates house in England because the online retailer wont deliver games to Australia.
Uk games are now excellent value when you factor in the exchange rate.

Never heard of it. I will check out the previews tommorow as Dingle seems excited and we normally like the same kinda stuff.

Ninja Gaiden was THE best game on the Xbox... hands down!

Its brilliant Danny, yet very hard - a lot of people gave up as it had some very frustrating bits to it!

Personally i loved it, the combat system, the speed of gameplay the story!! And i think #2 is going to be great but im a big fan.

You can get Ninja Gaiden Black (has some extra weapons+missions to the original) pretty cheap i would suggest a play

Probably too tough for me, I will wait and see what people think to the toughness of the 2nd compared to the first and then think about playing it from there.

never played the first one, and very concerned about the camera in this one, think I'll wait for the demo before making a decision.

I played NJ:S on ps3 and NJ 1 on xbox (not the Black version).

Trust me the difficulty is overhyped, once you figure out the basic game mechanics it is not hard at all.
After playing Sigma on PS3 the xbox 1 version seemed a breeze (whereas on the ps3 it took me an hour to beat level 1 because I had not mastered the jump attacks and dodge rolls).

The bosses are a great challenge, but the stuff leading up to them is a bit tedious and time consuming in places. You know the basics to complete it but sometimes the game is not very forgiving for mistakes, not "hard" per se unless you are crap at games :)

Possibly the kids find it hard , for us old folk it should be a breeze :)

Spot on, the chapter 2 boss, the fat-dude on top of that blimp, was seriously the hardest thing in the game, but that was because Id hadn't mastered the techniques yet. By the 4th chapter the game became a lot easier as you learn the style. Its the only game Ive played where the hardness seems to be going backwards. The final boss was easier than the horse dude in the first chapter! Alma was a bit of a **** though. But I hope they make the second one harder.

Team Ninja managed to make the game harder with the hurricane pack though, adding new enemies and giving bosses some friends to help them. But i do agree with you, anyone with a medicore skill/reflexes at games can beat ninja gaiden on normal, but it just gets less and elss forgiving as the difficulty goes up.

Best example is the ogres, the replace the red lizards later on in the game and just manage to beat me 7/10 times no matter what. Of course there are some silly hard enemies which i have only seen in the extra missions, such as some fire demon who can call meteors and use double dash attacks. Think i found that guy in the first mission where you face Doku.

I never finished the first one as I got rid of my Xbox at the time and never went back to it on the 360. It was a damn good game though and I'm looking forward to 2.

Overhyped?

I'd like to see you complete it on Master Ninja Mode...

Bored at work and was browsing release dates.. coming early next month? Time flies and all that. Anyway.. I'll be there chopping limbs and spilling pints of blood when it's out :D

I'm sure the higher difficulties are rock solid, problem is they aren't available in the first playthrough, I like to be challenged, and the highest difficulty available in Sigma was not as difficult as i would have liked. It's only truely brilliant games or games with a great storyline that i bother replaying, i just don't have time to otherwise and NGS while good fun didn't fall into either of these categories (especially the latter, the storyline was rubbish imo).

A LOT of games are very hard on their hardest modes (DMC and God of War off the top of my head). You can't do this on 1st playthrough. It is a good game (apart from the rubbish storyline) but I don't understand why people go on about the difficulty, course it's hard on the hardest mode, that's a given and most people won't play it on that mode.

Agreed, I played Sigma and the original xbox 1 game after and feel the same. It's not the kind of game I would play through multiple times. I will get the NJ2 on 360 still.

I think it could just be down to the style and genre of game. There is no other game like ninja gaiden around really (not certain ofc) and specificly when it came out there was nothing like it to target audience which is why i think it took everyone by suprise.

It's hard to explain but what i think was just no one at the time had the experiance to play a game like ninja gaiden, that coupled with it's tendancy to reward failure/accidents with certain death the game has just aquired a reputation for being the hardest thing since stale bread.

got this on preorder, first game was easily the best game on the old xbox, especially the 'black' edition

there better be decapitations and stuff in the PAL version this time, damn censors, the current 360 isnt quite as hackable as the old one was at the release of ng1 (good ol' uncensored animations from the NTSC release)

True, but NG normal setting is equivilent to other games "hard setting" ive done a few levels on DMC 4's hardest level and it is no where near as hard as Master Ninja Mode on NG.

Still, i love the pace of the game, the weapons / fighting styles and the setting too, was a good looking game seemed to cross between olden and modern day almost.

Same here :) I cannot wait for the second and supposedly last installment :( (from the creator, Itagaki anyway)

I've also yet to come across a game yet that beats NG for its flawless fast paced and challenging combat. Devil May Cry is clunky and quite unresponsive and God of War is just a button mashers wet dream.
