Ninja Gaiden Sigma PS3

Alma was the bain of my existance on Very Hard mode, it was possibly the hardest section of a game ive ever played.

:(

Still.. i did it :D

I've heard before :) I never had the paitience for Very Hard mode I would end up a dribbling vegetable before I could even finish the game :p

But judging from the way I just wasted her on hard mode (NG:Black) I should have no problem with Sigma me thinks :D
It usually takes me between 5-10 tries, this time I did it first time round with only using 2 Elixers of Spiritual life and 2 Great spirit elixers. I was bricking it so bad that I wasted all my orbs to max out my Talismans of Rebirth, there was no need :(

Its gonna feel weird playing Sigma without rumble though :/

I personally would notice a lack of rumble since I use it to determine when to press the button to counter attack, which is one of my main stratergies against most enemies. Its not a big deal just will feel weird after playing it on Xbox so many times.

I wouldnt have wasted your time :p I just got 50,000 in less then 15 minutes doing one of the 60 fiend challenges later in the game (around chapter 6 or 7). If you finish an enemy off with an ultimate technique (hold triangle till it fully charges) then it drops waaay more yellow essence.

Also how did you all find Alma? difficult or quite easy? (curious to know for when my PS3 + US copy of NGS arrives)

I dunno what level this Alma is on. I am on level 8 as Rachel trying to beat the guy in the green bowler hat who looks like Professor Calculus from Tintin.

I know how to beat him its just Rachel's moves are slow and rap compared to Ryu.

Edit: just beat him, took me 9 elixirs and 2 great elixirs though.

It will be different for you since I'm currently going through my Xbox version of Ninja Gaiden while my PS3 + NGS gets delivered (when ever that is :p)

Alma is just probably one of the most difficult bosses you will ever face especially on harder difficulties, I was just wondering how others found her in the PS3 version since I cannot see for myself right now.

Edit: You beat her before I could post the image :p

It wasn't her I beat it was Gamoz? Maybe the level numbers are different on the xbox version. The level was called the Alma Fiend but there was no Alma at the end of it (which is Rachel's sister judging by what Gamoz said).

Grrrr, im really enjoying this game, but im stuck now. Im on the bllimp on chapter 3 where you use the reel to flip the door down, you do 3 tuens and some people jump through the window, easy enough to kill them, but how on earth do you get over to the other side of the blimp after flipping the door down?

Yea hes one of the extra bosses you get in Sigma. Forget what I said in my last post :p I thought you meant you fought Alma

Just met her now, she beat me straight away, I will have a think about it and try again tomorrow. Any hints on what the best weapon to use is?

Look up and there is a rope between your platform and the distant one. Kill the guys across the way with arrows and then jump when just below the rope. You will then grab it then you shimmy across it using left analog stick.

:o i feel so stupid now. I was shooting all the support columns etc expecting one of them to break or something. Cheers for that :) I spent a good hour trying to figure that out.

Hope you have fun with your PS3 Alrik! :)

The PS3 version looks better than that picture!

Getting really annoyed with the locations, wish there was more oriental Japan/China.

Could be totally different from the Xbox version, but I can try to help.

Plan of attack:
If she fights the same (no guarantee she will since they probably re-did all the AI for the PS3 version) your best bet is to use the Dragon Sword and keep using the Flying Swallow against her, it will miss a lot but keep at it (only about 1 in 4 of them hit). Once it does connect it will knock her out of the air, she will be stunned on the ground for a brief period, this is where you do your damage to her. Quickly run up to her and use the Blade of Nirrti against her, rinse and repeat she should only be able to stand about 3 or 4 goes of this combination and shes as good as done. Also heal when needed of course.

To avoid Damage:
Simply just keep your distance and always be on the move (jumping, running, rolling) to avoid her attacks, since as you've experienced first hand she has some hard hitting attacks + throws when your both upclose or at a distance.

With the above I've managed to beat her down in just a couple of minutes with taking minimal damage. Its probably not the best way to beat her but it works for me :)

PS
Flying Swallow + Blade of Nirrti are both techniques for the dragon sword look at the list in game to see how to do them if you dont know how.

Edit: Forgot to mention after you beat her you may want to go back to the place where you got the Holy Grail (the thing you used to awaken the bone dragon) since there is another one of those fiend challenges and the reward is well worth it.

Thanks, its taking ages though I wont see it until next week! I would normally have ordered it elsewhere but I got a pretty big discount on the PS3 + a HDMI cable for £350 then I ordered NGS from Canada. I couldnt find anyone selling it in the US but all North American games are the same so it shouldnt matter. So I guess I wont be playing this until atleast Thursday/Friday next week or even later :(

And the game should look better then that picture since its from Ninja Gaiden Black :p

You wont see any locations like that either, most of the game takes place in Tairon I'm afraid.

Hot diggity those Ninja's in Tairon are even tougher than the brown ones in the original version! LOL. Anyone using the two swords regularly? I still find the dragon sword to be the weapon of choice :)

Going through it nice and swiftly now (suppose it get's easier the more times you play it). Not looking forward to Alma. She took me weeks on the original but blasted past her 1st time round on Black.

I used Ninpo to knock her to the ground and then waded in while she was down on the floor. Then run like fcuk and do it all again once she's close enough. NB, Ninpo won't work if she's too far away, she'll just roll in the air and dodge it

After all the hype I beat her 3rd attempt, not sure whether to save it or not as it cost me 2 great elixirs and 8 normal ones to beat her.

Just used the Flying Swallow technique and battered her with some killer combos while she was down and repeated about 4 times.

On normal she isnt so bad in comparison to the harder difficulties, but she is still probably one of the most difficult bosses. I would say just keep going since you usually find loads of Elixers throughout the game and if your low just buy some more.

Just remember if you finish off an enemy with an Ultiimate technique you will be raking the essence in. Easiest way to do it is in one of the 60 fiend challenges. Infact after beating Alma if you go back down to the Ritual Chamber (past the bone dragon, the place where you get the holy grail) there should be one there with Zombies and since they are slow moving you should be able to charge your weapons up to maximum without worrying about getting hit too much, aslong and you keep your distance while doing it.

I did the Fiend Challenge and maxed everything (including the wooden sword).

BUT, now I am stuck, I can't ascend back up the caverns to the monastry.
On the way down I didn't descend properly I just jumped right to the bottom, but I can't get back up!!!

Has anyone done this level and done the Fiend challenge who can help me? It could be a glitch in the game but it is unlikely.

I have looked for swinging rails ropes etc but can;t see anything to help me. i will try take some screenshots tomorrow if no-one can help.
