I've just ordered a Black DS Lite brand new for £71 delivered, worth it? Actually I ordered it afew days now and it should be coming next week, not sure why it has to take that long but oh well.

Does it come with any sort of case in the box?

What games must I get? First one I'm getting is mario kart. :)

u wont get a case for it bud but its well worth that price brand new and boxed!!!

Mario cart is a must have but would also suggest phoenix wright, trauma centre and hotel dusk, really good games that had a nice longeivity feel for me.

New mario bros is also well worth getting too, and im a big fan of micro machines V4 on the ds

Yeah, get Mario Kart first.... you won't be disappointed.

Then, as well as those already mentioned, pick up one of the Brain Training type games. You won't play it for hours at a time, but it's a game you'll keep coming back to for short but frequent gaming.

Also, Tetris DS is a good purchse.

Animal Crossing sounds uninteresting when you read about it, but it's surprisingly addictive - even for adults.

An obscure title, but one which I like a lot is Electroplankton. It's not a game, it's more of a music making thing, but it's a good stress reliever ;)

If you're willing to import, Ossu Tatakae Ouendan! is a great quirky rhythm game. If you want something a little less exotic it's westernised counterpart Elite Beat Agents is apparently good fun, though I haven't played it.

Other must have games:

New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Kart DS
Warioware Touched

there are some that are apparently very good, but I haven't played yet.. Castlevania for one. I liked Advance Wars DS, but I can't call it a must have because I was a bit disappointed with the level up system. It just made it a bit less of a pure strategy game which was what I liked about the first one.

Definitely Advance Wars and Puzzle Quest.

I preferred the Japanese version. The songs had a better beat to them and it didn't matter that the original artists weren't singing the songs. Elite Beat Agents is still good though. :)

Warioware Touched - One of the games that makes excellent use of the touch screen, you won't be able to out the game down.

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - The first pokemon games for the DS, not out in the EU until July 27th but you can import it from the US for cheaper than it will cost new here. If you've never played a pokemon RPG before you should try it, It's good fun and I can't put the game down at the moment.

I'd like to recommend Pokemon Diamond. I'm sure it's fun, but I imported it even longer ago when it was released in japan! Can't quite understand it yet though :o

My vote is for;

Final Fantasy 3
Sim City DS

and also i recommend the DS Opera Browser if you've got a WEP network setup in your house, really convinient for casual browsing while watching Tele.

My DS is played pretty much every day. It's probably the best thing I've ever bought.

Check metacritic for the top rated games on the DS.

Good ones are:

Mario Kart
New Super Mario Bros
Kirby: Canvas Curse
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Meteos
Tetris

I'm glad to see a lot of people mentioned games like tetris, mario bros, mario kart etc. I'm a massive fan off the 'old' classics :)

I will also look at getting a nice case for it since it won't come with one. Thanks for the replies.

Also think about getting the protective film for the screens too... they're very cheap but will prevent the csreen from getting scratched by the stylus.

My launch DS has no scratches. All these protectors do is blur the image and desensitise the touch screen... and that's just the supposedly great Hori ones =/

Aye, my screen never got scratched, even with a rough handed 7yr old playing on it

I think there was an issue with half of the DSs released at launch having screens that were easier to scratch than others. Mine is quite scratched, and I haven't mistreated it. Still works 99% well so not bothered though :D
