*** Nintendo Wii Fits at OcUK ***

I'm amazed that people get so worked up about inflated prices. I hate to break this to you all: OcUK is a, shock horror, ......... BUSINESS. They exist soley to MAKE MONEY. Maybe they are bandwagon jumping to make a quick profit, but hello, that's what sucessful businesses do, make profit.

They could charge £3000 for a bloody Wii fit and I wouldn't care, if I wanted one I would just get it elseware, the price of a Wii fit doesn't in any way affect the reason I shop at OcUK: the PC components.

It's really quite simple, if you don't want a Wii fit, don't buy one :confused:

all that is true Drexel, but at the same time, it's not giving the OcUK brand a good name at the same time, and that isn't to **** OcUK off, i always buy my pc components et all from OcUK as i like the business, but i think marking things up like this in the long run can do more harm than good, especially like i said in my other post when i can go into no less than TWO stores in my local retail park and purchase said product at RRP and i'd imagine it to be the same story in a lot of other stores, other areas might not be so lucky though i'd agree.
OcUK have a good reputation and have not got to where they are now through marking prices up, more the opposite in fact, for being competitively priced and offering a professional business and genuine competition against other E-tailors.

Although its now clear that OCUK are not marking the price of wii fit up. They are catering to the other suppliers who ARE marking up the prices, which can be just as bad tbh. The RRP was set because that was a fair price for suppliers to charge and still make profit. So just because demand is high and supply is short, the greedy suppliers (not OCUK btw) are hiking the prices to make even more profit. OCUK are feeding that greed and are guilty by proxy imo.
As has been said, if you don't want, don't buy, but company images can be tarnished by this kind of business because the perception is that they are callously profiteering. Look at how many folk slagged off ebay for selling wii's at £300 when they first came out due to high demand/short supply. Is there a difference here?

I'm not sure that I agree wholly with your perspective here. Nintendo have brought out a great product on the back of last Christmas' hit console launch which has been grossly over subscribed for orders, one therefore questions Nintendo's logic in a. the pricing, knowing their stock situation b. their production planning.

Significant demand exists for this product, OcUK has done what it always does which is seek out product that others cannot find and make it available for sale. If the price was any higher we wouldn't entertain it!

RTB, So you're saying that you have reached your limit as to what you'd pay/charge for this item, which to me, falls short of implying that you think the price is out of order too.
I appreciate that you want to provide the wii fit for those who are desparate to buy it.
But i wonder how it will be remembered/perceived;
"Managed to get a wii fit from OCUK, cost the earth, but i got one at last!"
or
"OCUK have got wii Fits at double the asking price, ****ing robbers!"

I just think its a risk you're taking mate that's all.

Not sure what Nintendo has to do with this particular thread. They may be guilty of not foreseeing the demand for such a product but surely its not them hiking the price is it? If i'm wrong and they are, my apologies.
It's the first line suppliers who think they can make a quick buck because they know that some people will pay even double the regular asking price. That gets hiked even more with the 2nd line suppliers and so on until it gets to the consumer who pays a fortune.

At the end of the day, you stock/sell what you want. I'll buy what i want.

I want one, especially once other games are made for it (think Tony Hawk for example) but will wait until the rush has died down, probably after Christmas!

I can't imagine what a relatively fast paced game like TH will be like with it, the balance board wont resemble anything like standing on a skateboard, and I assume you will still need to use the remote & nunchuck to do most things.

whilst I agree that the price is high,

OCUK have done this before, they are after all a business, and the ban hammer will be around soon if we go by previous threads. So take care what you post

As with all things in life, if it's too expensive, shop around or don't buy it

question is are they really getting them for a high price or the same as the ones retailing at rrp but sticking an extra 60 or so quid on.

There's that snowboarding game though. And the snowboarding on Wii Fit. Skateboarding isn't too much quicker, is it? (I have no idea btw!)

Well skateboarding the sport isn't but THPS the game is, comboing requires very quickly inputted controls, just can't see it working with the balance board.

I am very happy to invite you down, ask you to sign a non disclosure document, show our cost and the mark up and you'll see how little we make and then ask you to re-post and confirm we're not!!

If we could buy at, or less than RRP, we would and charge appropriately.

I bought one for a family member this weekend - at our prices - and its great!

Point here is - we have them, they are more than RRP - you want one now, we have them, but at a premium - the choice as ever is the customers.

Cheers.:)

I wonder if its time to close this thread now.
If people keep posting with objections sooner or later the ban hammer will start metering out beatings.
Personally, i'm happy that RTB has answered any queries and as rightly said, the choice is ours if we want to fork out well over the odds for a wii fit.
It will just go round in circles if it aint closed soon.

Its nintendo and their artificially limiting stock again.

Dont make a fuss if people choose to take advantage of that fact

Its in stock all over europe at marked down prices, especially on the large internet retailer, and readily available in the US.
