Nintendo Wii

Saying stuff like you played it and didn't think its great and that the novelty wore off is just flame baiting unless you want to provide more details. What games did you play, how long, where, etc? Excuse my skeptism but seems you just trolling.

150 Pounds sounds about right but personally I think Nintendo will aim it just a little lower just around the 140 mark which is about 200 Euros. But I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo went lower again. My logic is that the Wii hardware is just a pimped up gamecube in theory with the graphics muscle around that of a XBOX. Unlike SONY and Microsoft they are making money off each console sold. Dropping the price isn't as big a deal as it is to the other two.
I have a kick ass computer and I see no need to get a console for graphics. I will be sticking with Nintendo because they offer great games for both single player and multiplayer that a PC can't compete with.

Do you know what an NDA is?

Definately getting one, really excited about it as well. Looking forward to using the controller as well as playing the old Nintendo games. Can't wait for the release :)

I Don't what is it?

Me personally cannot wait for the Wii.

Will be pre-ordering no matter the price tbh. Just love Nintedo - I still play the n64 and gamecube

Dev2 - The Wii's hardware is basically double the gamecube mate. so in effect. it is a pimped up gamecube.

Cant remeber where i saw it but theres a video of a guy at some event and hes videoing the queues for the 2 consoles, the ps3 has a fair few people in it right up to the 30 minute wait sign. He goes to the Wii stand and the queue just keeps going and going and going way past the 2 hour wait mark!!!

I think that sums it up, the PS3 is going to be the PS2 updated they will have their major frnachises like Final Fantasy, Gran turismo etc but its still the same thing only looking better, however the Wii is something new and should be a breathe of fresh air to the console gaming industry, I personally will be trying to get both (if i can spare the money :D ) as some of the established names like Final Fantasy appeal to me but I also like the fun factor of the Wii.

I will be buying one... Cant wait really. I will also get Zelda and Metroid and the little analogue dongle thingy... And Deffo Resident evil if its out on release.

A Non Disclosure Agreement that stops you talking about specific games and features.
An NDA wouldn't stop you from disclosing why you don't like the controls.

For what its worth, my friend was at E3 and he couldn't get enough of the Wii.

Havent you just broken the NDA by saying you've played on one? All NDA's I've known about have a strict policy where your not allowed to say that your testing the product.

Well they showed a Wii being played on G@mers on rapture TV a few weeks back so I don't think a NDA would apply to how it plays. Possibly more like the features within.

However I do not understand why everyone seems to have jumped on the guy who has supposedly played on one and didn't like it. The control system may not be to everyones taste (just like some people can't stand playing a FPS on a controller).

I would interested to find out why 'chrissss' didn't like it as I am genuinely intrigued. Was it the games themselves of the actual controller itself that you didn't like?

For me I won't be getting a Wii until it drops to around £100 as personally I feel £150 is too much for a second console.

people are jumping on him because his comment just reeks of bull ****.
He offers no reaons as to why, which makes the comment very dubious.
An NDA won't cover oppinions so long as features aren't talked about.

I wasn't jumping on him :p . Was just curious.

I can see why some people would'nt like the control's of the wii, some people (and i :D ) get lazy when playing computer games , so waving a remote about when you just want laze around might not be to everyones taste.

The wii still interests me though because of the uniqueness of it, I'm all for innovation.

Would love to know how he got to play on one as well. Could be that hes in the gaming industry (possible) or went to one of the big gaming shows (chances are slim but who knows).

Anyway, his email address leads me to suspect he is a student/member of staff at Bristol Uni, rather than in the industry ;)

See Nintendo, because of those STUPID video's they have put up of people jumping and waving the remote around like an idiot people think thats that you will actually play it like

It require's very little movment in most games (like MP3 and Mario Galaxy) , simply tilt it to the left it move to the left tilt it right and it goes right on screen.

Like i said it not any one's fault they are just going by what nintendo has shown them. :(

Are you arguing or agreeing? I did say it was a pimped up Gamecube. Although I wouldn't go as far as to say twice the power but rather a Gamecube 1.5 per se but it's hard to know because Nintendo are so secretive about these kind of details. This is because comparing a Wii to a PS3 and 360 graphical capablities is a battle Nintendo can't win on internet forums or in debates. This means the only way you can judge the console is by it's games which is the right way to be.

One other thing that will greatly work in Nintendos favour is the Wii dev kit. It's very similar to the Gamecube so any devoloper that has expierence with the dev kit will have an easy transition developing for the Wii. It's also much cheaper than the Playstations so smaller developers may find it easier.

I agree with the above comment. Personally if you think you will be playing like the badly dressed over enthusiast Japanese kids in the commercials you are mistaken. This reminds me of the time Time Crisis was released for the Playstation and the advertisements had this guy in an empty room jumping around and barrel rolling etc. When you played the game it was much more subtle than that in fact it wasn't anything like that, although the commercial showed otherwise.
Also many other people are complaining that they will get tired from swinging a 50 gram remote around. If thats the case you should really hit the gym.
I don't expect significantly more effort in moving the Wiimote than I do my mouse when playing Counter Strike Source.

Absolutely, 100%, getting one. I'll be pre-ordering as soon as I can. Me and the missus are both Nintendo fans and between us we've got a ton of Nintendo stuff. Only missing a GC which we had to leave in the UK when we moved - but will be getting one soon ;)
