I thought it would be a nice idea to start a thread since I enjoy using this forum more than dedicated owner clubs and now we have other R35 owners I didn't want us spamming motors threads by going off topic!

Lets try and have all GTR information, questions and comments in here.

If we can keep GTR hate to a minimum that would be great also. ;)

I will start us off with my car and some details:

Mods:

SVM 650R – Stage 4.25

I also have the SVM 102mm Exhaust with Satin Black powder coated tips and upgraded SVM Mechanical Cir-Clips in the gearbox.

The Car made 645bhp and 611lbft at the first OCUK RR Day that I went to last year and then 630bhp and 617lbft at this years day but with more midrange.

Old Tune (Nov)
New Tune (April)

Thanks for looking!

Love your car JP, and the GTR in general! One thing I don't get is the red leather bits on the seats, just seems a strange contrast with a blue car...thats being extremely picky though ;)

Thanks Will, yeah it is a bit annoying because the red goes with all the other colours.

When I bought mine you got two options of seats; Recaro seats with the red bits or "Premium" seats which are for larger people and plain black or light grey leather.

There is now another red full leather interior option and the track pack which has some blue highlights where the red are on mine but still no option for Recaro seats with blue leather or just plain black Recaro.

I think the interior is still very good for a Japanese performance car and once inside the red bits don't bother me that much and from the outside with the doors shut you can't really see it anyway.

You just couldn't wait could you haha. I do love the blue, wish they'd done it from 09 onwards instead of 11. I'm already stockpiling some new washing/detailing bits as black is going to be a pain to keep looking clean.

How do you find the 102mm on the motorway? It's quieter than 90mm isn't it?

Well you asked me a question in the other thread so I thought it was a good time to start :)

I have the quiet y-pipe on my 102 and if you get the revs right with cruise control the motorway noise is very acceptable (more noise from runflats in my opinion!), have done 4 hours straight with no issues.

Apparently its pretty loud on the outside though when I go full throttle ;)

Yours even without dp's is going to be pretty loud compared to mine!

I went for the downpipes for the extra bit of power and also the change in exhaust tone when going all out.

How do you stop such an amazing and highly desirable car from being stolen? Genuine question.

I don't really know, I just treat it like a normal car and hope for the best. I guess there are always more desirable cars out there and also easier ones to steal.

If it does get stolen I don't want it back, Gap insurance should pay for another brand new one.

I worry more about random acts of vandalism, coming back to it and finding it keyed or dented would be a total pain due to having to get it fixed rather than a new car!

Considered buying an R33 one some years back and drove a few. Also, but keep this between us, I did, for a very brief moment consider getting one of the current ones as a day to day car....but I don't want that getting onto the Internet. They are a bit quick and a bit, err, big.

Don't forget practical! The boot is massive and you can fit more than 2 people in if you need to (the car not the boot :p).

I can understand things like tyres and whatnot being dear, but what makes the brake pads and discs so expensive?! I've always wondered this on high performance cars. OK so the discs might be ceramic or whatever, but wow!

I'm afraid it could just be GTR tax.

If you want the OEM SpecV carbon brake kit it costs £36,000!
There are aftermarket kits in the 15-20k range which is still nuts.

I plan on buying AP Racing or Alcon replacement discs when I need them and Pagid RS29 pads.

Some people change to cheaper pads but I don't want to lose the 1.2g braking force.

Lots of extra information here on the brakes http://www.2009gtr.com/2012/06/nissan-gt-r-brake-upgrades-and.html

Unless I'm reading that pdf wrong (which I probably am) - the service interval is 1500miles?!

On a separate note - I *will* own a GTR one day, but currently I can only stretch to the Z range :(

The first 'service' is the optimisation which is carried out at 1500 miles. Servicing is then every 6 months for older cars (09-10) but every 12 months for newer cars (11+) I think! Quite a few people with the older cars have decided to go to -2 month servicing once out of warranty (36 months).

Yeah, the first service is now at 1200 miles after you do the running in driving (not for the engine but for suspension, gearbox, diffs, brakes etc).

Mine will be getting the dealer service every 12 months but with an engine oil change every 6 months, either by myself or this time I had it done at SVM for £70 including OEM oil and filter.

What bhp is yours 530bhp as I know my dad mentioned his replacement is up slightly to his previous 2012 one that incidentally looked identical to yours.

He went from a 300ZX TT, R32 GTR, R33 GTR, R34 GTR a silver GTR, Blue as above and now a deeper grey. Unfortunately I do not get the hand downs :(

Mine is the UK 2012 545bhp model.

The thread is for lovers also ;) and I know there will be more owners in the future!

Love your cars iceman, past and present (forgetting the Ferrari :p).

Not a fan of the Ferrari's?!

Only because of F1 and being brought up as a McLaren supporter.

For me it is like football rivalry between the teams and there is something about their supporters and the majority of the road car owners that really irritates me :p

Since you have had Ferrari, Lamborghini and now McLaren you don't fall into that camp ;)

This is a typical Ferrari fan in my eyes :D

True but both like chalk and cheese. In a way the MP4 is a GTR, just way way sexier, more unique and true super car, but like a GTR with it crazy advanced technology to make it go quicker.

Whereas Shelby just uses good old fashioned big engine, 4 wheels and a
steering wheel principal. :D

Indeed! The MP4 is the next step up from a GTR, if I could afford it, I probably would also.

Is this an R35 GTR specific thread or can i mention the 600+bhp R32 i went for a run in last night?

I don't see why not, as long as we don't start getting any old Skyline :)

Indeed, check the next page of that thread for more updates and he mentions Banzai Magazine are going there, I guess full feature of SVM in the mag.

Anyone spot my car on the wall :D 8ft prints are all customer cars.

Installed a Boost of the line map with my Cobb, made mental noises and did this:

Stats from Racelogic Performance Box

No Rollout (unlike the yanks using 1ft to get going :p )

0-60 3.23
0-100 6.78
50-70 1.31
62-124 6.45 (100-200kmh)
1/4 mile 11.14 124mph 2.03 60ft

Private farm road which was pretty dirty and damp so I just got wheelspin for the first 50-100ft or so and then ran out of space to do a full 60-130mph pull (had to brake at 128 damn it!).

On a prepped drag strip or even a good warm road I think I could get a lot better times.

Good start though :D
