Very quick, not sure on the 1/4 though.

I can't remember but went to RAF one weekend few years back, me in Mustang and mate in his 2009 GTR with y-pipe but stock ECU. Can remember what his did, it was either high 10's or mid 11's. What do they tend to manage stock at drag strip?

I just remember that off the line the Mustang had no chance. For example 30-130mph the Mustang was 2 car lengths ahead, but off-line he left me, my quarter mile was like 12s and his a good deal quick and it was all due to how well the GTR gets off the mark.

Went out in friends Litchfield Stage 2 car this week, not as brutal as yours JP but a much more linear power delivery, wheras yours is brutal in mid-range in comparison.

Well most 1/4 mile I think use 1ft rollout and I used 0 rollout and had lots of wheelspin as the road was bad.

I want to get down to santa pod this year to see what it will really do.

I think my results are good given how bad the launch was and like you say that is the strong point of the GTR.

Was only my first real try at timing and only got the one run before it started to rain.

I will try again on the same road but use 1ft rollout and see what it gets, should be 10s on the "street" I would think. Will wait for dry weather and really warm my tyres up first!

Stock 1/4 mile times at dragstrips vary so much depending on the track prep, have seen high 10s to mid 11s.

What are the DP's like for day to day driving? Do they only make a noise above 3k? Car is due a G3 service in September so thinking of taking it to Litchfields for service, downpipes and possibly the warranty.

DPs are fine on my car as I have the 102mm exhaust with the silent y-pipe, sure its loud up top but at cruise speeds I have no problem holding a conversation with passengers or on the phone.

Full bolt on mods is the way to go, make sure you get the latest mapping and Asnu injectors if it has stock or ID ones.

Nissan just released some info on a limited colour run of 100 units worldwide, Midnight Opal with some dry carbon bits and "hyper-titanium coated" wheels.

Midnight Opal was a colour option for the Spec-V which was absurdly expensive, I think this will just be a small premium over the standard colours like Super Silver.

I really like it :)

When are they looking to release a new model GTR?

Next years will have some upgrades, rumored 7 speed gearbox but I am not sure how true that is as it would mean a full redesign which ain't cheap. More likely a power boost to ~600hp stock and a few aero tweaks to keep it looking fresh.

R36 isn't due out for a few years, 2018, which would be 10 years after the R35 launched.

That will more than likely be a hybrid of some sort but I don't think Nissan will go chasing the likes of McLaren's 900hp P1.

Ah yeah I saw your thread about the noise, mine did that from day 1 with 20 miles on it, just a thing with these cars they are very mechanical sounding :)

Downpipes are fun, really need injectors and intakes to go with them though to get the most out of the stock turbos.

What exhaust do you have?

Yeah OK thats already a nuts exhaust, adding DPs will be mental. :D

When you go to Litchfield make sure they upgrade your EcuTek to the latest if it isn't already?

Lots of new features over the last few months!

Hope you can get to PowerStation for the next OcUK RR day.

What do you have on it now?

I just love the latest version of the Dunlops, went out in a MPSS square setup and to me it felt like the tyres wanted to come off the rims when you start to push in the corners, all kind of squirmy with the weight of the car.
The general ride was better though, normal suspension mode felt like comfort and there was less tyre noise (not really a problem with your exhaust setup :p)

Won't going 275/305 make the car understeer? I thought that was more for getting some extra straight line grip out of the MPSS.
I find with the stock tyres that the 255 up front is more than enough front end grip, don't know about with MPSS though.

I am sure you will have done plenty of research, I know Litchfield absolutely love the MPSS on the GTR but I think that could have been after he failed to buy a container of the Dunlops when they wouldn't sell them to him as they have a deal with Nissan.

I also think quite a few people who switched from stock to MPSS did it when they were right at the end of the life of the old tyre so obviously going from a tyre thats down to the canvas to a new tyre will feel amazing.

Look forward to your impressions of them, get full geo and ARB adjustment as the softer non runflat sidewalls will effect that also.

Anyway, thats just my ramblings on the matter. I don't dare to post anything on GTROC about tyres, people go nuts.

Wasn't on my car, was an 09 that was up for sale locally. Pressures were quite high though, 38 rings a bell.

I haven't tried a car with the Bridgestones but from what I read they are not as good as Dunlops. Also just look on the forums for posts about R888 vs Dunlops on track, so many arguments about which is best with no real answers, just all subjective seat of the pants stuff from people like me that are average drivers at best!
From what I gather R888 don't like 4000lb cars and will give up after a few hot laps. Unless toyo have released some GTR specific ones.

I am sure the MPSS will be fine and should save you a good 800-1000 quid off the dealer fitted price for Dunlops.

MPSS should be amazing in the wet though compared to the Dunlops! Only downside to them in my opinion.

Got my car booked into Litchfield in a few weeks time, some nice little additions to the car which should improve the noise and ride quality, and a bit more power if that was ever needed :D

Downpipes
Suspension from MY11
New sub & amp, the Bose system is lacking a bit in the bass department
Sound deadening in the rear and boot
GFB BOVs

Also going to look into a silenced y-pipe so I can get on some trackdays, can't juse use the OEM one as it needs to me 90mm to match up with the GTC system though.

All good, BOVs are personal preference though I guess :p

I don't think they even do anything between gear changes because there is no let off if you are doing wide open throttle acceleration.
At least with the GFB ones you can stick them on full recurilate when you get tired of the sound (I had one on my last Impreza).

I also did dynamat extreme behind the rear seats, around the gearbox tunnel and in the boot, pretty much cut out all the gearbox noise and stopped some weird vibration I was getting with the 102mm exhaust.

MY11 suspension will be nice, normal mode will feel like soft for you!

The latest ECUTek software look very good also.

^JP^ I have to say your car looks absolutely gorgeous. That first picture of the back 3/4 shot really is a cracking photo. Do you have multiple sets of wheels? As I've noticed you've got some different wheels fitted in your sig picture. Any chance of a large version of that photo as I think I prefer those wheels to the ones in the first post.

Thanks!
The sig picture isn't my car, just a generic picture that was sig size so I stole it to use.
No photography skills to get a good picture of my own :(

I think to get a good set of wheels comparable to OEM you are looking at atleast 5-6k, the cheaper ones are very heavy or low quality.

I like the ADV.1 wheels but they are $12k or so from memory.

http://adv1wheels.com/

The ADV10 is very nice:

Thanks, I will keep that in mind, lets see how this winter is weather wise!

Thinking of the Blizzak LM25 OEM on the stock wheels and some nice stock size but with may be a bit extra offset to fill the gap ADV with the summer tyres on.

The ride is hard but I like it, driving normal cars without runflats and stiff suspension is like driving a boat to me now :p

If you have ever been Karting and go over the rumble strips, thats like being in the GTR ;)

Nice results. Bigger turbo inlet pipes and may be a larger exhaust is the only thing holding it back.

I keep looking doing more but I wouldn't want to do bigger turbos taking the engine out to fit them without doing something to the engine, and then I would worry about the gearbox so it just snowballs from there.

Would look something like this:

Forged Rods, Pistons, balanced run in etc £6k
GT30 based turbos (SVM GT1050 ones) £5k
1-6 gear set or treated stock gears £3-6k
18 plate clutch with billet baskets and other gearbox parts £5k
Fueling and Intercooler plus other misc parts £5k
Syvecs ECU and tuning £5k

So somewhere in the region of £30k would build you a 900-1000hp pump fuel car that would be built to withstand that kind of power.

Then I go and drive mine with 650bhp and wonder wtf was I thinking and put my wallet away

Enjoy you car :D

People will buy it but damn too expensive, you really have to love Nissan to spend that much on one.
I would rather have a pre owned MP4 for around that price!

I do like the bodykit and wheels though.

As people know I am happy to give demonstrations of such exhilaration :D

Once the 100 days of snow is over you should come to the next Karting meet or RR day.

I agree, there is little challenge driving the GTR fast, sure on a circuit you need skills to know every bit of the track, how late to brake, turn in etc but you can still have fun with it, VDC in R mode and you can push it in corners until it steps out without ending up backwards.
Which for me is perfect as I am no racing driver.

In that video he had VDC fully off (3rd switch along was down and orange) so the electronic systems were not helping him, I used that setting once and it is very scary, ended up four wheel drifting sideways when doing a launch.

I really want you to get one and set it up for track, turn VDC off and see what you think. Like you say, if its too easy and boring you can sell it on.
