I'm back baby!
I've been working from home recently, and have been getting annoyed by the amounts of people knowcking on the door/ringing the bell for no good reason (to me, at least).

Several times a day there's salesmen, charities, canvassers for various local entities, etc.

So I've put a sign up. Simply states 'no cold callers'. The stupid delivery guy from a certain parcel delivery firm couldn't grasp that and didn't bother ringing the bell to deliver a package  but it is amazing the amount of people walking past that stop to read it, frown or grimace, then mosy on down the road. They generally look in the house windows as they pass too.

How would you react if you saw that up in a porch window? I just want to stop being bugged for no good reason!

We have a sticker that says "Door to door sales, please don't ring" next to our doorbell. It isn't 100% efective so maybe your slightly more harsh approach is what is needed. But who cares really? The only people who it puts off are people who've come to pester you, not people who you actually want there surely?

Ive actually stopped answering my door unless I'm expecting someone. Seems a bit harsh I know but just fed up of explaining that I'm not interested.

You would think so, the delivery guy from Royal Fail didn't think so!

No big deal imo, although you'll probably have to add an exception for delv men/women, I experienced the same problem when I put up a similar notice on our front door, cold callers bug the hell out of me, I would ignore them but sometimes they even knock on my window and wake me up which is why I put the sign up as I work nights.

Several times a day? blimey where do you live? i'm lucky if i get one in a fortnight!

This is the first time I've ever lived on what could be described as a main street, or at least a busy one. Always before I've lived on cul-de-sacs and never had this problem.

get used to it. i also have a suspicously large amount of charity bags for clothing dropped through my door and can only assume it's a scam as i've never heard of most of the charities, infact, i've never heard of any of them and think they're just after some clothes! they make great bin liners though.

very strange. I think the delivery person just couldn't be bothered ringing. I've seen lots of signs like that and know its directed towards cold callers, Jehovah witnessess etc

No one like ****s coming to your door to sell you some double glazing or convert you to jesus, so why would they frown as they walk past your house? A small sign on the door shouldn't be a problem anyone.

I have a giant mechanical hand that slaps them back over the fence.

I don't really, but I wish I did.

You would be surprised. Some of them pay you rather well (based on weight) and you can get over £100 if you have a good throw out.
