Hey

So, looks like the locking wheel nut tool is missing from the car.
I know it was in there when i bought the car, but i never saw it since it was in to have an alloy painted and a tyre changed. so i think the dealer has it.

I have asked, but they have no record of it. and have no idea where its gone.

How do I take these off the car? i want to fit my new alloys!

What make of car is it (if on originals), there are ebay sellers who sell keys based on a photo of the nut for around £20 with quick turnaround. Had mine next day once he confirmed it was in stock.

Not Mazda but Mercedes had a master set at the main dealer when my key snapped. They didn't charge...

Whack an impact socket over them and they'll probably be off in seconds.

After seeing how easy they can be to take off I don't see the point in having them. Mine were McGuard iirc, no idea if other brands are harder to get off.

I had mine removed at a tyre fitter when I lost mine. He used a hammer to get another socket to sit on top of it if I remember. Took at about 15 minutes

Some garages have locking wheel nut key removal kits. Little brass plugs that are bashed onto the nut which then take up the shape of the key and can be unscrewed using it without fear of damage to the wheel.

What Richie says. Have you got breakdown cover that includes home recovery? If so let a tyre down, call AA etc out. Tell them you want to fit the spare but no key. They'll charge you a fiver/tenner a wheel for each brass but they use, ask him to take the lot off.

Why are you ignoring the advice to just go to the dealer and ask them to remove them, as your OEM part has let you down? Mercedes didnt even charge me as far as i recall. You dont need to hammer sockets over them, or get people to bodge remove them - Mazda will have the actual key.

I'm not.

The Dealer is in Coventry - 20 mins away.
The Garage that will remove them (asked today) is 30 seconds from work, can have the job done over my lunch break.
They will also fit new tyres to new alloys, balance and fit to car.

No point in locking wheel bolts anyway, pointless things.

The Dealer who sold me the car just called to inform me that the Key is in the boot... I dont recall seeing it so im going out at lunch to pull the boot apart to see if i can find it.

Soon as you pay someone to remove them it'll show up :D

Or will destroy the alloys that are currently on! :(

My stuck locking nut needed heat, a grinder, chisels and eventually neediny to actually drill the stud out :(

DEaler would be my first call, the first thing I did to my new car was replace the locking nuts with standard ones :p I currently have I think 3 sets of mazda locking wheel nuts and keys, are you local to newcastle? lol

Many moons ago I undid one of mine with my fingers (true story), guessing the garage that changed my tyres did it up with their fingers in the first place :p

What possessed me to try I'll never know but I felt like the incredible hulk afterwards :D
