No more grid girls.

Some of those should be girls and lord knows what will happen if they are touched. But it will be cheaper. I wonder who will get the extra? Or maybe we'll have the grid girls back as chaperones dressed as Mary Poppins.

We will see how it will look like without these beauties. Can't really judge the decision before seeing the first race in the end of March.

But, it is always better to see more beauty around. Beauty appears when God created something perfect. :p
 
Clearly going to have to have chaperons for the kids, a grid isn't exactly a safe environment for an unattended child.

BUT

This is going to open a huge kettle of fish, I mean its not like you can have the parents of the kid looking after them, can you imagine letting unvetted Tifosi on the starting line? :D It would be anarchy!

So you are going to have paid minders, but this isn't a walk on like at footie matches, those kids are going to be stood there for an hour at least, in 40 degree heat at some venues, in pouring rain at others. With a minder who they aren't going to know, surrounded by the noise and chaos of an F1 grid.

And then we hit the problem of the fact that more than 50% of the GP locations don't have any motorsport heritage, no youth programs, not enough "real" young drivers to cover all the grid slots. So FOM are either going to have to fly the kids and their families around the world at great expense, or let rich kids do it. I wonder which it will be, and with the media watching like hawks FOM are lining themselves up to be shot for "pandering to the 1%".

So yeah, I welcome the move, its going to add an extra element to the grid walks. I propose a new drinking game, a shot for each time you see a fainted child, two shots each time you see a child wearing a Rolex.

Exactly as in tennis. The kids' reward on the court is the "honour" to be helping some of the most successful tennis players in the history.

Young fans who compete in junior racing categories or karting will be selected by motor sport clubs to join the drivers on the grid. They will appear at every F1 race and will also be used if possible at F2, GP3 and other support series. The children’s families will also be given paddock access for the race day

I don't see what all the fuss is about, the missus already agreed to parade in front of the TV with her kini on :p
