You do realise that also a lot of these promotional girls also have full time jobs as well. Plus girls just like boys have lots of inspirations when growing up, when we reach adulthood we often very much never go with our dreams or we get common sense.

Also I suspect not so many young girls watch darts and F1 to be honest, young girls are far more likely to be following pop stars who quite frankly have music videos more or less bordering on soft porn, so I think F1 grid girls should be the last of your worries there. What will be next, swimwear models are banned, lingerie models how far will it go? Next thing you know wearing a bikini on a beach will be banned because of the children.

Simple fact is some one with their small minded views have decided to ban a long term tradition which actually did no one any harm and put several hundred women in jobs.

Also if you watch F1 and darts a lot of the promotional girls are far from skinny or looking starved, their is a good mix of thin, slim, athletic and even curvy promotional girls and I think times are changing where a lot of girls now realise that strong, fit and healthy or even curvy is far more attractive than looking thin or starved.

Simple facts are grid, promo, darts girls are doing no harm at all to anyone and they do the jjob because they enjoy it and get paid well.

Plus think of poor Vettel and the rest of the drivers, they now gotta stare at some guys bottom.
 
No-one has "banned" anything. They've simply decided not to do it. You do understand the difference between a "ban" and not deciding to do something, right?

Long term traditions can also become outdated traditions...

No one is losing their job here, they're losing a client which will easily be replaced by another client just like any contractor does. Who knows, maybe their next client will pay better.

Let's think about this carefully and logically. As I see it there are two consequences of this decision by F1 to attempt to stay relevant in 2018 and to attract a new younger audience:

1. A few less employment opportunities for a small number of girls
2. Men (mostly men, mostly older?) will not be able to lech at young girls at the start of a motor race.

If the outrage is because of (1) then does one expect the same level of outrage (death penalty etc) whenever a firm makes any redundancies or decides a contract for services is no longer required. There are plenty of other jobs these girls could be doing. I don't imagine they will end up on the dole. :)

There seems to be some who are using (1) as a cover for (2).

Would be a good opportunity for fans with weekend tickets to enter a draw to hold the cards or something along those lines. Bit like the football kids who run on with the club.
But I bet they'll implement some stupid thing instead. It's f1s way solve an issue with a bigger issue.

They could also do more to promote racing drivers to females.
Still find it odd that there isn't one good enough for F1, especially with some off the shocking drivers we have had in cars.

Ok it's had 5 female drivers only two managed to qaulify. But it's been 25years since the last one.

The point here is that we are already seeing "Mission Creep" from the feminists who are pushing this. It all started with Page 3 being done away with and now it is encroaching ever further into other areas.

Sure, darts and F1 represent only a few job roles for these models but let's not pretend that the activists who are pushing this are not looking at their next targets. Boxing has already come out and said they will not be pressured to dispense with ring girls.

Manchester Art Gallery has pulled a Pre-Raphaelite painting because "sexual objectification".

Can we now push for a ban on pop music videos. I took my girls to watch Little Mix in concert and was appalled at them parading around in what was practically BDSM attire and singing songs about what kind of sex they were having with their former partners.

Or is this not relevant as in general it is not men that consume this kind of music?
 
Must admit I expected them to just mix things up a bit with "Grid People", but as metioned elsewhere I imagine most of the previous grid girls will still be employed for the corporate side of things over the weekend, so doesn't really feel like a drama to me

No they didn't, they pulled it to promote discussion - the very act of pulling the painting was in itself a kind of protest against the assumption that a naked image of a women is automatically sexual objectification. Are you so intellectually deficient that you really don't realise this? It even explicitly outlines this in the article you linked - which I presume you didn't even fully read!
