No news for a few weeks

I'm in Egypt, dodging bullets. Actually, I'm on an oil rig off the coast so, no bullets in evidence. I'm due home on Friday. Thankfully, my company are going to book me into one of the hotels at the airport on Thursday night when I get off the rig so I won't have to go into Cairo.

I only left the server running with one 690 when I left due to the ridiculous heat. I'm going to be doing a few alterations to all of my rigs when I get back (mostly watercooling). I thought about getting my neighbour to switch on one of my other rigs to thwart you but decided to let you have your fun :p
I'm hoping to have one of the rigs finished and Folding within a few days of getting back. Not sure I'll get back up to full speed at first as it's still quite warm back home - maybe after a couple of weeks if the ambient temperature drops a bit.

haha, ye, ill have my fun , all 2/3 days of it lol :p ,

I am seriously considering water my self, if I get another 7950 ill have to, not sure how a 240 rad would do cooling 2 gpus! as the corsair 300r doesn't have room for rads tbh. could always mount a 480 outside my case to my desk :D:D

with the cost of it all, it may be cheaper selling the 7950 and going for NVidia , my case nearly has a good fan set up, 2 x 140mm apache exhaust and 2 more for intake when I get them :D so swapping back to NVidia may be the cooler and cheaper option.

AMD 7950 75'000 PPD roughly
AMD 7970 anything upto 100'00 ppd

NVidia 670/680 do around this aswell I think , but for the higer end

GTX780 - ive seen people saying they have had 150'000 ppd
titan - biffa has 4 x titans :eek: he sometimes gets upto 180'000ppd on just one titan

have a look at this thread and read some of the monster builds that some guys on THIS TEAM :D own
it starts in 2010 so as it goes on, the hardware gets better and better

Very nice. We really ought to get Kaapstad doing this. With his almost unlimited supply of titans a x79 chips, he'd get some great scores ;)

My XFX 7970 Black Edition is churning through 120,000 PPD at 1000Mhz I can easily overclock this to 1125Mhz with overdrive, but I really want to get my system under water to get the temps down.

At 30-40% fan speed which is not too noisy I have temps hanging at 80C under full load, I can drop these to 55-60C by ramping up the fan to 60% but its pretty noisy at that stage.

feel free to try and convince him to join ;)

I manage to get my amd at 67- 70c with 60% fan speed! its what I get for buying the cheapest 7950 around

Ah well , I manged to stomp down stan lite :p , not that it'll last so ill celebrate now before he ups his defences :D

Enjoy it while you can. Slight change of plans though. Instead of watercooling the GPUs in the SR-2, I'll be installing the 2 X5650s I've just paid for and getting Bigadv going :p

Will be looking into moving GPUs around for the best output in the meantime.

I though it was 16 cores for bigadv?

I had a look as well and £700 each, I will wait until they drop in price a bit :)

I've just popped thru the top 100, time to start moving into the top 50 next. Long way off from joining the big boys in the top 10
