ok the other day i was talking on this forum about how i just got new rig and it kept restarting, well i gave in a gave it to my friend to have a look at (it's his job) and even though he has built hundreds of computers he has no idea what is wrong (that's after a solid day of studying it)

what am i suppost to do now? i was asking him if he thinks it's the hardware but he could only see it being the mobo but sadly i don't have a spare mobo with ddr/ddr2 and agp/pci-e slots.

what can i do now? is there any types of scans directly designed to test if hardware and faulty and what exact piec of hardware is causing the problems?

cheers

make sure that the cpu fan is on properly, i suggest taking the fan off and replacing it again.

if the fan isnt placed properly then the cpu will be overheating and causing it to restart as a sort of defence mech.

hope this helps :)

na it's nothing to do with temps sitting on around 35oC

it restarts as soon as i play games (everytime) and just randomly when i'm on windows.

but i don't even think everything is running as fast as it should, takes a wee sec to load some things and it's a freaking brand new core 2 duo like

my guess would be the memory or mobo - but i cancelled out the chances of it being the memory when i tried out some old ddr memory i had and the same still happened

sounds like the mobo imo as its still booting and runing properly until u play games best thing to do would be to test every component in another computer if its possible and that way u can tell what the problem is by process of elimination, i hate to say it but i told ya

lol it was only a freaking tmp board once i get 100 quid i can get me new graphics card and mobo

there is no way i can test any of these on another computer :(

it could be a graphics card if its not sitting in the slot right it can give you probs
do you know any 1 with a spare card that you could test just to see if its the game.

it could be a motherboard prob but i would rule out other parts first
ie.. gfx card memory

are you using the same strips of memory? as some boards dont like mixed
if so just try the 1 strip for now. just to see if its the memory. if its doing it again try the other strip.

Stick a meter on the power rails and see what they're all doing.
It's possible you've a faulty or under-specced PSU.

If you set it up yourself then take it apart and take it back to the shop where you got it from (thats if you can). If you bought the parts from several shops then take each one back and they will test them for you I am sure all the parts are still under guarantee.

If it was a complete built system built and bought from the shop then take it all back and they will test it there for you there and then. If you purchased it online then RMA it.

Stop messing about with it and take it or send it back. This option would be the easiest and quickest way to get it sorted out if your friend or yourself couldn't fix it.

yer a second guess would have been that the PSU isnt powerful enough for system
m8 close the door behind you, read the op and thread before posting, if a corsair hx 520 can handle my system in my rig overclocked then it can handle the OPs rig easy

Very unlikely, but there is a chance of it being faulty and not delivering the full power to the components? but given all the things, it seems the motherboard has a fault of some kind.

Could also depend on what graphics card hes using. You're using a 7600GT which isnt hugely power hungry, not compared to say a 8800, or x1900xt for example.

lol in that time i will have my new mobo lol and will sell that one as brand new...try make some money

My first 939 system had restart issue, I tried allsorts in the end I split the system and made 2 PCs from it. The problem disappeared for months until the original Mobo died recently. I'm sure it was something on the mobo that caused the restarting but I never found out what.
