'No scan, no flight'

In possibly the most macabre thing I've ever said, I can't wait until these scanners are everywhere - and a plane gets hijacked/blown up.

Although this could be state sponsored I guess. Although what security measures will be next? I don't know.

That makes no sense.

unless you think terrorists have strapped a bomb to you without your knowledge?
The rules are anybody can be scanned, i don't mind being caught in this process if it can help find somebody with a bomb strapped to them.

Would you protest them looking inside your bags if they ask you?

It's pretty much the same thing, self important whining about "privacy" simply for the sake of it.

Also stop banging the "people are just rolling over" drum, your kidding no one but yourself, we're not "rolling over" we just either don't care or know it's just not that big a deal.

If they could get the rads down - I'd be all for that.

It would prove me right, tis all. In that they're useless for passenger safety. And despite illusions to the otherwise - no one gives a **** about the passengers other than themselves.

I agree - if the radiation levels were at a barely trace above base level then I'd have no issues.

I'm so happy I don't do 40+ flights a year anymore as this would be hell on earth for me. I'd end up getting myself into trouble.

I'm all up for profiling - in my job I had to have 10 year vet, CRB check before even being employed. Once employed they do yearly checks too. So they have info on me, just let me go down the "human" route.

All this security is actually making me not want to go the States anymore (I know it's not just for the States).

It really is depressing that this is what the world has come to. :/

What a waste of time and money. :/

They're not able to scan anything you may have inserted either. Furthermore, I wouldn't want to be unnecessarily irradiated either..

Exactly the next attack will come from a bomb inside the body as has already been attempted with an attack on Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef.

Exactly. What about fanatical pilots? Or other air staff? A mechanic that tampers? Air traffic controller (I don't know if this is possible)? There are far more easier ways than to hijack on the plane.

It would be incredibly easy for me to do TBH. For all the measures on passengers it's so easy for airport workers to get 'banned' items onto a live aircraft it's a joke. You go onto the airport through security like anyone else, you can go 'off site' in a vehicle and pretty much get away with bringing whatever you like back. I have had my bonnet popped for a check once in nearly 3 years. I am the only one to have had that done from all the guys that work at my place.

I would then be free to stash what I like for someone else. Its so easy it's scary. You are relying on the good will of whoever is employed. A basic background disclosure on anyone born in the uk and next to sod all for anyone else.

Another pointless knee-jerk reaction to a threat posed by muslim extremists. I note they are already talking about concealing bombs inside their bodies.

Why not just scan those who are more likely to be causing these attacks? We know only a small minority of muslims are terrorists but virtually every terrorist involved in these kind of attacks is a muslim.

I can't remember the last time I saw a 70 year old white grandmother being accused of attempting to carry out a terrorist attack, so why put them through this degrading nonsense?

Originally I had thought box cutters were stashed on the planes for 9/11, not brought on. But apparently this is wrong.

Racial profiling would exclude the Irish...:D

You are of course assuming that you have not been the subject of any checks/observation at all.

After all you may be a perfect example of the system working, you've not planned/intended to kill a bunch of people and as such gone about your jo without too much hinderence.

The lack of anyone having pulled off your idea also backs it up.

no one ever reads the articles do they?

It is now compulsory for people selected for a scan to take part, or they will not be allowed to fly.

only a small proportion of airline passengers would be selected for scanning.

They may not say it but you can bet racial profiling will play a large part in it.

As a white guy not acting nervous odds are you wont be scanned.
