I would gladly be scanned if it means i have less chance of being blown to pieces, thanks.
That makes no sense.
unless you think terrorists have strapped a bomb to you without your knowledge?

The rules are anybody can be scanned, i don't mind being caught in this process if it can help find somebody with a bomb strapped to them. That makes no sense.

In possibly the most macabre thing I've ever said, I can't wait until these scanners are everywhere - and a plane gets hijacked/blown up.
If they could get the rads down - I'd be all for that.
It would prove me right, tis all. In that they're useless for passenger safety. And despite illusions to the otherwise - no one gives a **** about the passengers other than themselves. What would that change?

I agree - if the radiation levels were at a barely trace above base level then I'd have no issues.
But apparently, of course, "If we having nothing to hide...."It really is depressing that this is what the world has come to. :/

Not more than an x-ray machine as in the Total Recall pictures (presumably as they're in the future). If you're so concerned about radiation why in gods name do you fly?
You're exposed to much more radiation in flight.

What a waste of time and money. :/
They're not able to scan anything you may have inserted either. Furthermore, I wouldn't want to be unnecessarily irradiated either..
Exactly. What about fanatical pilots? Or other air staff? A mechanic that tampers? Air traffic controller (I don't know if this is possible)? There are far more easier ways than to hijack on the plane.
I think widespread use would be deterred by the prohibitive cost of the machines.
Originally I had thought box cutters were stashed on the planes for 9/11, not brought on. But apparently this is wrong.I would then be free to stash what I like for someone else. Its so easy it's scary. You are relying on the good will of whoever is employed. A basic background disclosure on anyone born in the uk and next to sod all for anyone else.
Racial profiling would exclude the Irish...Why not just scan those who are more likely to be causing these attacks? We know only a small minority of muslims are terrorists but virtually every terrorist involved in these kind of attacks is a muslim.

It would be incredibly easy for me to do TBH. For all the measures on passengers it's so easy for airport workers to get 'banned' items onto a live aircraft it's a joke. You go onto the airport through security like anyone else, you can go 'off site' in a vehicle and pretty much get away with bringing whatever you like back. I have had my bonnet popped for a check once in nearly 3 years. I am the only one to have had that done from all the guys that work at my place.

It is now compulsory for people selected for a scan to take part, or they will not be allowed to fly.
only a small proportion of airline passengers would be selected for scanning.
