Solid choices. TSWLM is actually my favourite Bond, and I don't really know why as it's definitely not the best. I'd argue pretty strongly in favour of FRWL as the best of the bunch.

You realise this is a bond thread right :D

What exactly is unrealistic about an invisible Aston Martin V12 Vanquish? ;)

Park one round my way and it'll vanish pretty quick I can assure you!

Spectre, other than the train fight scene (only redeeming feature) the car chase when compared to Bourne/Ronin or Quantum - showboating. I agree Blofeld's role was a wasted opportunity.

Hollywood vanity (like the latter Pierce Brosnan films) has started to creep back in - whereas with Casino Royale, Daniel looks a bruiser and gets battered. When watching Spectre, Daniel gets a pasting and looks immaculate (tailored suit would be ripped to shreds) and not a scratch or limp!

Saw a new thread got made and closed, but nobody re-posted it so here we go.

‘Black woman introduced as new 007’

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/metr...duced-bond-25-audiences-new-007-10287976/amp/

That headline is definitely ‘wtf’ inducing but, actually, she isn’t replacing the Bond character, she is just being given the namesake (perhaps only temporary for the plot of the film? Who knows).

So, upon reflection, I think it is actually a far more subtle and better way of promoting diversity (to the extent it is that) than having a black Bond, which would have been really jarring / felt forced. Thoughts?

They just can't help themselves can they.

Ghostbusters and now 007, I look forward to watching Larry Croft Tomb Raider in the near future.

Naturally being the massive racist/sexist I am I cannot stand for such things.

"Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed,”

So predictable... Of course they won't show a white male having some sort of power over a brilliant, young black woman these days.

Yeah I did roll my eyes at that quote tbh, unnecessary. Just goes to show it really makes a difference how these things are presented.

But in fairness, I suppose, Bond has been massively sexist so we shouldn’t be too sensitive about it.

It seems like a good way of leveraging click bait, as you mention she's given the 007 title/isn't actually being cast as Bond but some news outlets have (or had) headlines that indicate she is etc...

Bond hasn't exactly been short on diversity - the main Bond actors (Connery, Moore, Brosnan, Craig) have all had a black Bond girl at some point, a few Asians too. I think it is only Dalton and Lazenby that didn't.
