image may not work.

Finally got fed up of the noise my computer was making so decided to see if I could find the culprit. After suspecting my psu for ages, I finally took a gander to find that it was my hard drive making the horrible humming sound.

It's meant to be the 'quiet' seagate 7200.10 or whatever the code name it, but it certainly isn't. Well, i suppose it kinda is but not when attached to an aluminium case causing the whole thing to resonate.

Came up with a super crude solution involving 4 thumbscrews and 4 elastic bands.

Result = no humming :D

Have to say I'm pleased with the result although I see many future problems, the main one being one of the elastic bands snapping (which will inevitably happen)

yeah it really works well! Saying that, the picture shows a stationary hard drive, this is in fact (worryingly) not the case when I turn my computer on. It wobbles around when it's spinning fast and gives me a bit of a heart attack. Lets hope those rubber bands don't dry out and break :eek:
