Hello

Had my new pc for nearly a week and i want to overclock it to 4.6ghz stable.

I have been using the auto OC that gets me up to 4.3 but i want extra fps and performance. I have started by overclocking my graphics card (GTX570 Gainward stock) From clock732mhz/shader1464 to 814mhz/1628mhz which has improved on fps by 10-15fps

For overclocking my cpu and ram manually i have no idea what settings to do. I have read tutorials etc but there too complicated.
Would anybody be able to post pictures or settings of exactly what i need to do for OC my cpu to 4.6ghz

System:

Asus p8z68-v PRO
intel i5 2500k
corsair 8gb vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9
Corsair H80 Liquid cooler
Gainward GTX570
Corsair 650w PSU

I game a lot on my pc (daily 12 Hours +)

Thanks

Before using the settings on that video set you're vcore to 1.35 and see how stable you're system is.

You might not need to touch any other settings if you're just going for 4.6Ghz.

But if you want to go any higher then just be careful with the load line calibration setting as it can be dangerous especially when your vcore is already quite high.

Hope this helps.

Okay so i tried the exact settings in that video and after i went to go download some programs on the net about 2 mins later i got bluescreen.. i forgot what it said but what should i do now? what to turn down?

Thanks

May need to restore to factory defaults, should be an option when you try to exit the bios.

After you've done that, when it restarts enter bios again. Everything should be back to normal.

This time just up the vcore, leave everything esle alone for now. :P

Also only change the turbo setting, if you didn't already know that.

If you need anymore help just ask.

I've just checked my bios settings and everything is set to auto apart from these;

vcore = 1.35v
turbo all cores to single ratio
turbo = 46
memory voltage = 1.5v
memory frequency = 1333mhz

Btw, I can increase the memory frequency to 1600mhz with 1.6v but I don't see any differenes in frame rate in games.

Why won't it do 1600MHz with 1.5v ?

Hello sorry im abit confused.

I havn't touched anything since the bluescreen so from those settings in that video im in the bios now.so i just change the cpu manual voltage from 1.350 to ......? how much to turn it up

This is all confusing xD

Just changed it to that now and ran a quick benchmark... seems stable. When I last tried 1600mhz with 1.5v it crashed for some reason. Weird, thanks for making me curious and trying it again. :D

Anyway, I probably wouldn't go with that video now seeing as you've already bluescreened with those settings.

Try mine out, see how it goes. ;)

If you want to go any higher you would probably need to increase the vcore to somthing like 1.4v or something, although I would stay with 1.35v only because thats the maximum I would want to put on a chip. (Also its just below intels recommended safe voltage.)

Other guys might go higher but is it really worth the extra 100-200 mhz? :confused:

Next step might be to go SLI or somthing. :rolleyes:

Okay what do you mean by turbo all cores to single ratio. where abouts is that in the bios.

So im reseting to default and only changing those 4 settings and leaving everything else. not touching any of the settings he shown in the video.

Do you mean the setting on turbo ratio By all cores and By per core... You want me to use by per core?

Just saved and only done the settings you told me. Booting up now will let you know if i BSOD :rolleyes:

Also to mention its tripple booting showing the asus motherboard bootup screen 3 times before i get to login to windows.
