Noob 5850 overclock question

Yeah 66 under Futuremark.

Just crashed @ 1000/1200 :(

Gonna try a little more voltage.

Futuremark crashes within a few frames with anything above 1150 on the memory and I dont wanna take the voltage any higher really.

So as it stands 1000/1150 1274v , not bad for £210

So now I need to sort out powerplay or do i just load overclock before gaming?

Firstly, I think the card is safe upto 80c, so keep it below 70c and your good :)
Mine running Furmark (max temp load) gets to around 66c fully loaded.

Secondly, if you have done as I suggested, created two Profiles...

Profile 1 = Cards Default speeds.

Profile 2 = OC speeds.

Then go into the Settings of MSI and look under the profile Tab... you can set the 2D to your cards Defaults, and the 3D to your OC settings, then simply load and apply Profile 1, the set MSI to load on Startup...

Each time your system boots, MSI will load Profile 1 by default and when you run a game it should automatically load Profile 2.... and when you exit the game, MSI will revert back to Profile 1 again, job done :)

I currently have my MSI profiles set up as above and have found that if you set the 2D profile to the cards default clocks you also get the powerplay function to work better. With my card overclocked the lowest powerplay drops to is 400/1000 where as before it would drop to 157/300 which caused terrible flickering on my second monitor. No such problems now.
With temps its also worth opening up GPUZ and looking at the temps of the VDDC Phase's. The higher your voltage, the higher these temps.
