hi

i have a striker 2 formula and a Q6600 @ 3115Mhz 1.44 Vcore (1.39 Actual), 3.125 VID, 1.46 NbCore. i know i can get more from this chip but can't seem to be able to. i am not a very experienced overclocker so i don't want to touch anything i don't i don't know about. The CPU loads @ 55C so i can put more voltage through if needs be.
The NB loads at about 60C so again more voltage can be applied.
i cant seem to be able to push it any higher.
Is there anything else I should be changing or tweaking?

please Help

Thanks

you havent mentioned yuour ram ?? that can play a big part on overrclocking limitations

what ram have ytou got ? and also have you changed the ram voltage ?

as you increase the fxb of the cpu the ram speed increases unless you change that also. and as a result can require more volts as mobos tend to supply to little at default settings

Have you changed the RAM timings, or are they on default?

Either way, drop the RAM divider a notch and see if you can get any further. If you can, it's your RAM; if you can't, it's your CPU.

The limit of overclocking is usually down to one of three things:

1) The top speed of the CPU, or
2) The top speed of the northbridge, or
3) The top speed of the RAM.

The trick is to set the system up in such a way that you are only straining one. So your next step is to drop the RAM speed and see if that allows you to go higher. If it does then the problem was your RAM. If it doesn't, then raise the multiplier (if you lowered it - if you haven't then you can't do this bit) and reduce the fsb, then try again. If your multiplier is on default then the only way to eliminate the NB as a cause is to increase the cooling on it and see what happens.

i've got a 60mm CPU Fan, from an old AMD System, about 2mm way from the nb and then a loo roll pointing from a scyther 110CFM fan to the 60mm fan over the northbridge.
As i have a a Zalman CNPS9700 it resricts the amount of cooling over the northbirdge i can only just get the 60 mm fan underneath it.
Are there any better solutions?
