Noob watercooled build..

On it's side at the bottom.

HDD's staying down there as well now
Need to shut them up somehow though, they crunch like I've never heard them before.
Offcuts of the clearflex will come in handy here I think.

Bed time again, I'm pooped.

:(

Another reason for me not to get this case then.

don't be a ghey.. you can get a black ice pro or similar up there, even a triple with the mod we've both seen, then you can get 1 120.3 and a 120.2 in the floor cavity, maybe even 2 120.3s, not sure if that fits, probably psu dependant.

Its a lush case mate, the build quality is out of this world. Puts Lian Li to shame and you know how much I love their cases.

It feels like its machined from one big lump of alu.

Plus you can make it all kinds of pretty colours, I fancy red outside and white inside, that would look sexeh :)

As an ex structural engineer I can say this case is up there with the best...
The ONLY poor bit of manufacture is the burr / swarf on the back of the mainboard tray where they tapped the threads. The rest is excellent.

nice size cases i agree, but i got the mountain mods cos it was all glossy and black :D

not to mention 18" x 18" x 18" :P

Progress tonight.

Re did the TIM the official way..
tim-line.jpg

and threw it back together with the same fan / cooling configuration as last time to measure the difference.

and sat back testing. ;)

Not seeing any drop in temps yet but they do say it needs 25 hrs or more to bed in.

Getting a little distracted though.

Cheers,I tried it when I asked you about it in the other thread a few weeks ago but couldn't fathom it out

Will do, the block has to come off again anyway to fit the nozzles when they arrive.
Although to see any actual benefits I should stick to the same goop for a few further tests yet..

Some oddities tonight
Blue screened within seconds of stress test activating yet at the time I was on the same settings as earlier in the week.
Noticed the north bridge temp up at 79 during the next test (after tweaking the voltage up on the CPU slightly) and knew that if it hit 80 degrees then the pc would cut on overheat protection... which it did after about ten mins of hovering at 79
Upped the BIOS back to the default 90 degrees for the noth and south bridge thermal cut off points and went back in with yet more voltage on the CPU and ..
3.6Ghz clock
So now under load I have 1.22v (everest) (1.232v in CPUID) (450x8)
However Everest (or the M/B) north and south bridge temp readinga have bombed out, pc was just idling when the graph trace stopped..
Also the DIMM voltage is now showing 0.00v whereas it was working earlier.
28 mins in on a everest stress test and still alive though so not all bad.
If someone has a direct link to Prime95 that is suitable for quad cores that would be much appreciated, the link supplied earlier just went to a thread and I couldn't pick out what I was supposed to be looking at to download.
Rebooting earlier saw all three voltage warning lights on the mobo christmas tree and the thing wouldn't post, however on a BIOS reset back in with the same settings it is all up and running but still no sign of those NB and SB temp sensors??

Also been on the Asus site looking for some Maximum design spec for temps on the NB and SB cores, I realise the cooler the better, but be nice to know what's getting unsafe?
Before the sensors had bombed out NB was just touching 80 and SB about 45...
NB sounds a bit high to me. I've not touched any voltages in there though, more >

Bed time, can't wait any longer...

Average temps over 48 mins stress testing (everest)
3.600 Ghz @ 1.22v
core 1 - Doh ! it wasn't logging it
core 2 - 52.2
core 3 - 55.5
core 4 - 58.5
