Nordschleife 2011

I don't really fancy doing it in the Mondeo, if I'm spending out to go to such a place, I want to make the most of it. :)

If it came to it, I'd buy a cheap 106 GTi before taking the Mondeo :D

the 106 will die on the hills, its a long track with most bends being quite long, the Mondeo would be the better car.

No it won't, because I will not enjoy piloting a boat around the 'ring after spending £500+ to be there :)

I think you will need to come out in my Skoda ;)

I think you fail to understand the actual enjoyment of simply driving on the track.

Indeed, does everything think because I drive a boat I have any less fun that someone in a Lotus/etc?

I don't think that, I just think you get your thrills from different things.

I personally prefer something that handles on track than something with just a few more t0rks. Lets be honest here, until 90-100 MPH on flat, a 106 GTi is going to be faster anyway.

I expect the Mondeo to be hitting 130-135 indicated on the fastest sections, I think the 106 would struggle to get up to those speeds at all. I hit 150 indicated in the CSL and the M5 coming up to schwedenkreuz and a lot of the circuit is spent 100+. I think the 106 would be more fun in the corners potentially, but it would feel lifeless on the straights.

I would probably pick the 106 if I had a choice, but the mondeo wont't be bad, so seems a bit excessive to get a car just for the trip.
