Mine clearly has "enough", as in you can pull away and keep up with average moving traffic without problems, but then you hit 2.5k and enough can very quickly become "too much for the available traction", and backing off slightly unspools the turbo and you start again.

Mine gets around that by diverting some of that power (up to 50%) to the front wheels before it becomes a problem.

Well I've had all types of engine. I think supercharged gives the best of both worlds really plus you can't beat the mechanical whine of a charger. I find turbos power range too short.

:( depends entirely on the engine, surely. I'd rather have fairly even power all the way through the rev range tbh (well tbch I would rather have some power than the serious lack of same that I have atm :(). That said, it is entertaining keeping the engine above x revs (eg on mine 3.5k plus is a nice level to stay above so as not to lose any hope of moving) but the same can be said for NA and turbo.

Depends on how each is implemented.
Personally I find turbo units like the latest VW petrol to be the worst of all for fun. Yes it's powerful, but very linear like boggo non-turbo and without the real top end fun of some the better VTEC like engines.
One of the most fun engines I had was in the 200SX. Plenty of lag, big glob of torque, then you're going for the next gear. It FELT seriously fun, even if it wasn't that quick, and on the rubbish tyres mine had, was very easy to donut if you were in the mood.

Strikes me that at least for me, I'd like an engine that is a bit jackle and hyde, i.e. like a pussycat a low revs, but turns into a firebreathing monster when really opened up.

I drove the R56 Cooper S and the turbo makes it seem much quicker than it actually is. It certainly had good acceleration but I missed having to thrash the Cooper (non-S) everywhere like I do. Really need to work it to have fun and rev'd hard it does actually perform quite well, the Cooper S doesn't require this as much. I wonder how the old supercharged Cooper S compares.

I prefer N/A really, the smooth linear power delivery is better even though you dont get the urge that makes it feel fast. That said, I liked the twin turbo 335i I took out yesterday - didn't feel turbocharged, very linear power delivery.

Get yourself one of the twin-turbo Subaru Legacies then :)

This sounds a bit convoluted but bear with me, but forced aspiration in slower cars is my preference. My Mondeo isnt fast, but the turbo means it feels faster than it is. Unless you're worried about lap times, you buy a fast car because it feels fast anyway, so thats good.

If I was after an actually fast car, it would have to be a larger cc N/A engine and definitely no VTEC :)

My GF's 306 feels faster than my S2000 due to the boost.

Yup, I'm not surprised (DTurbo or HDi I assume).

I screw modded my old Mondeo TD Mk1 - that was hilarious. About 3 minutes of lag, followed by a huge explosion of power and black smoke for about 700rpm :)

Turbos are deceptive. One of my mates had a 2.0 TDI Eos and thought it was the world's fastest car. On the roads the Mini decimated it.

Love this noise personally :)

Not biased or anything :D

I'll have to do one of those for ours, will sound poor and be much slower though :D
