North Korea to conduct Nuke Test

Visage: I never said the US were angels but i'd trust them with nukes much more than i'd trust NK. As for the picture you posted, you can't compare the US to NK with a picture so if you're trying to refute my claim that NK is much worse living conditions then get me some statistics.

How many countries have NK invaded in the last 50 years? How many countries have NK nuked?

And as for pictures, if they cant prove anything, why did you say:

Just take a look at a thread on the military forum which shows pictures of NK and you'll see what I mean.

Perhaps you should use statistics rather than pictures?

Because it's common knowledge that NK has very bad living conditions, as I said there is no comparison I don't have to prove anything to you.

Heres your evidence; no electricity and phone lines in many parts of NK. Most people walk or cycle because cars are very expensive as they have to be imported from SK. In some parts of NK people probably have to use public water supplies as they don't have their own.

Thats not evidence - its an unsubstantiated claim.

If I said 'All gingers are a bit wierd', then its undoubtedly true, but its not 'evidence'.

Not to mention the famines going on there... the people are almost totally dependant on food from the outside as the home grown crops fail to yield

This isn't SC. If you want to be ignorant as to the conditions of NK then thats fine but i'm not going to scour the web looking for evidence, it really doesn't matter whether you believe me. The information is probably all in the military forum thread anyway.

'tis ironic that between 1996-2002 the US handed NK over $1 billion in food aid, and I think China is doing something similar with implicit loans.

If they are playing with nuclear weapons, then the US already has it's finger in the pie.

Its actually true what he's saying there are only 980,000 phone lines there....

A good point, but the US are responsible enough to have them.

Are they?

Whats more dangerous - a country that can use nukes (almost) with impunity, or one that knows that using them will result in its destruction?

I do not trust NK with nukes. But then America is not exactly the person to go around telling people off for having nukes when its sitting on the world's largest pile of them.

Russia have a bigger arsenal than the US... just the US has the largest on actual stand-by, and in terms of piles, stock piles iirc, the Russians have about twice as many as the US

The difference is the US used the weapons to reduce deaths... granted it is the only country to use atomic weapons on another population, but its unlikely it will be the last

Personally i dont think this is a good thing for NK to have nukes but then i dont think the Americans having nukes is a good thing either.

I just hope NK decides not to go ahead with this test, things are already bad enough in this world without having the NK's testing nukes out to further inflame tensions.

Thats far from certain. There's probably no need to have that debate AGAIN, but its a long way from accepted fact that the two nukes saved lives....

as far as i was aware... and from what i watch of the history channel (Factual Channels as they are called) the dropping of the atom bombs (despite killing 300,000) saved an estimated: 200,000 US lives, (guess) 300,000 Japanese Soldiers Lives, and millions of Chinese (being enslaved and slaughtered by the Japanese)

Back to the situation... lesser of two evils
