Nostalgia time!!!

I remember playing DF 1 and DF 2, they were also my first lan games I used to play in work on night shift! I also remember spending many hours in the R6 games, until they released the horrid shooter that caused the series to freefall. The only other games that reach the same tactical suspense are SWAT 4 and Armed Assault series. I didn't enjoy DF:BHD as Operation Flashpoint was already out and was far better in every degree.
I also enjoyed BF2, but with the exception of base rapers and bunny-hoppers. BF:BC2 is much more epic than original BF2, but still plagued with bunny-hoppers nd base raping choppers.

Loved Delta Force and Rainbow Six. As already said R6 went down hill after Raven Shield.

Used to watch my step dad plan out missions in the single player for hours before actualy running the missions, it was fantastic.

ahhhh operation flashpoint, i played the demo of the original so many times over, getting shot from an enemy you could barely see was amazing.

I remember playing the single player on one level where i had to run through the woods, i was being shot at from behind while trying to get out of the woods, a proper feeling of suspense in that game that no other has ever given me! Very realistic ...... apart from the graphics.

Operation Flashpoint killed my pc when it came out. I didn't have enough ram to play it properly. It was the first game where not having enough RAM became an issue in running a game for my PC lol.

I was playing it on a celeron 900mhz, 256mb ram, geforce 4 mx 440 graphics ard :D Those were the days haha (probably around the time i upgraded to an athlon xp 1800 actually)

Rainbow Six (up to and including Raven Shield) was the best FPS of all time. still play it occasionally.

if you liked Delta series from nova, try Joint Operations there are still some servers up, and some cool mods like International Conflict or ICE. still play that once in a blue moon.

too bad the graphics are a bit dated on thse games, but the gameplay is still awesome and both these games have tons of community maps, mods etc... and most importantly always felt that the players on these games were more fun to play with than what plagues games like COD, Halo etc...

I could never get into joint ops, it always felt like a poor mans version of battlefield :( :p

really not. BF just has better gfx but it's also more recent (haven't like BF series since Vietnam came out). but JO has more mature type of players (too many idiots in BF, also always fight to get the OP heli), has a co-op mode and you could play huge maps with up to 150 players - EPIC. too bad they haven't modernized the game since now it does look dated, it is afterall 7+ years old now

It was good when it started i agree, when the servers had 150 people on that was fairly eic, but the gameplay itself wasn't as gripping and the vehicles were far too buggy.

The idea was fantastic, the implementation though not so fantastic. I'd like to see them do it again with todays technology though!

true the vehicles were/are lame to drive, but in a way i like that since not everyone runs for the the OP heli, gives infantry a fighting chance. which is why i only like original BF in WW2 - those helis killed it for me, inf was just cannon fodder. realism can be good but not at the expense of balance.

Shame that I am so young. I've missed out a really good generation of games :(

My first FPS was I think Medal of Honour (PS1) and Golden Eye (N64). Then it was Time Splitters < That was an epic game.

I'm young and my parents were not very well off so I only had a N64 which I won in a competition. I played my friends PS1 and PS2 up the road for some other games.

In 2004 I got a new PC and played UT2004 that was when I got into PC gaming

You won an N64  that must have been the best day ever!

EDIT: looking at your current age, you must have been like 6 or 7 then? something like that? That's like winning the lottery to an 7 year old!

I also had a gameboy colour and the N64 was the special edition Pokemon Stadium one and I could link my Pokemon Blue to Stadium :D Shame it broke while I was upgrading it with an expansion pack to play Majora's Mask :( Still haven't got around to replacing it to play it :(

omfg I played delta force SO much online. Loved CTF, and that snowy castles map where the were 2 castles facing each other!

Landwarrior was just as epic! King of the hill! That aztec map with the big ziggurat thing in the middle, omfg so good!!!!!!

And the egypt map with the pyramid where people use to grenade launch over the top of it! SO epic

Are you sure this isnt rose tinted spectacles?

I mean I can still enjoy MOHAA, COD 1, UT99 today...but those games look shocking!

I can't really put my finger on what it was about them but they had something which kept people playing, it was fantastic :D
