Does anyone else do this?

i seem to buy a new game, love it and play it to death for a week or two, then see something else I want to try, leave what I was originally playing and start on that.

Then when I go back to what I was playing before i just cant get into it.

I cant remember the last game I actually completed!

What games are you playing that you can't complete "in a week or two"?

I have done this lots of times though not for the same reasons as you state, with me it tends to be because of the RPG style leveling of you're character which is now shoehorned into most games, you end up becoming so powerful that the challenge dwindles & with it my enjoyment of the game does also.
I'm not saying that I dislike all games that use this sort of system, a few games get it right & scale the difficulty with you keeping the challenge fresh, but these games seem to be getting fewer & fewer IMO.

Yep all the time. I'd say a good half of the games in my steam library where never finished. I either didn't get into them as I expected or started playing something else instead and never went back.

I do that all the time. I start a new game and then I always end up buying something else a week or two later for "when Im finished" and then I always end up starting the new game..

Since I started gaming on a Master System consol I think I've only ever completed 10% of all games I've ever owned lol.

AND I'm not one of those that just buys tons of games and not play them. I only get games I really think I'm going to enjoy and I give plenty of time to them (spread over say hour long goes 3 or 4 times a week). Just rarely get to the end haha!

heh, I didnt think were would be too many games made for the master system.

Sadly i do this a lot :( think its mainly hype i can get sucked into a new game.

But then i mostly struggle to get time to play games so some just get forgotten forever.

Nope, I play a game and finish it, then buy a new one.
Unless it's **** or the bit I'm on is impossible and was made by idiot developers who can suck a dick ;)

I'll not bother finishing a game if I don't like it or it just doesn't grab me. There are just too many other games out there to waste time on one I don't like.

My fav genre is rpgs, but I hardly ever finish them and it really annoys me.

Still haven't finished Mass Effect 2/Fallout 3 and NV, Oblivion/Skyrim despite putting 100's of hours into them. Problem I seem to have is i'll play something for a fair amount of time and get either half way to 3/4 of the way through it, but then for some reason stop playing. I'll nearly always go back to the game at some point but not until a few months after. By which time I've forgotten where I am and whats happened so far, so I start from fresh. Then I just end up doing exactly the same thing and get about half way through again. Sometimes I don't even get as far as I did the first time.

For me personally its about attention span. I get bored of things quite quickly and move onto something else. Which doesn't really favour the rpg genre with them being a fair bit longer and deeper than most other genres.

It's also really hard to stick with one game for a good amount of time these days. There's something new and shiny out every few months so its easy to get distracted. I remember playing on my SNES and PS1 many years ago and a new game would last me a year.

I am terrible for finishing games! Last year was the most success I have ever had with finished games, I did 3. Zelda OOT and MM and Mafia 2...

This year I have finished 0, despite getting most the way through the original Mafia, starting Thief 2 properly and desperately wanting to do the 2 cube Zeldas!

I just get distracted by a couple of never ending games (civ and FM are the main culprits) so I have mountains of half finished games! My mission next week is to sit though at least one of my n64 games seeing as some of them I have had for 15 years... (Banjo Kazzoie and Diddy Kong racing are the worst two for just not finishing)
