hi,
right i have the system in my sig. now i have my cpu set at offsett 0.020 in bios which gives 1.38 in cpu-z at 5ghz.it's stable at those temps.my wc setup is as follows,an xspc ex480 in the bottom of the case with 8 vipers in push/pull pulling air into the case, an xspc ex360 in the roof of the case with 3 vipers pulling air through the rad and out the top. i have 2 gtx470's with full nickle ex blocks and the cpu block is an ek supreme full nickle. i have 2 laing 18w ddc pumps working in tandem all on one loop.now when i game i'm seeing tempos up to 85 and under prime it's going up to 80 within 2 minutes.now i have been using this like this and was happy. b ut i'm seeing posts where ppl are getting lower temps with high end air coolers and higher volts. 5ghz with 1.38 volts i think is awesome but surely with my loop i should be getting much better temps????

is there anything you would change about my loop, i.e setup or fan direction ect??
my fans are controlled by pwn on the motherboard.maybe set them up in another way???

Do the 470s get equally toasty or do they present what you consider to be good low temps? If it is just the cpu try re-seating the cpu block?

If it is both are you sure your rads are not half full of air?

You've got an issue somewhere.

You need to drain the loop and reseat that cpu block, check you've not made a mistake like leaving a plastic cover on it or forgetting to apply TIM.

While the block is out you should also disassemble it and check inside to see if you have a blockage.

+1

the hardware you have shouldnt be giving you temps like that

thanks so far guys.i'm not a newbie so i think i have the block on right with no plastic left.i used mx-4 and spread it properly.i'll check the gpu temps and reseat the block and strip it down.how about fan direction?

whats best to check the cpu and the gpu temps at the same time.play bf3? for a while?

50 on gpu, 80 on cpu is a large delta but not impossible. Remounting the cpu is a sensible first try.

Beyond that, split the loops. Cpu on the quad, both cards on the triple. Considering you have two pumps already i'm at a bit of a loss why you haven't already done this.

i was advised that dual loop is not as good as single. i also tried dual loop a while ago and got worse temps although that was not with my wc hardware i have now

80 on cpu is not right for those volts. I have more volts and a single fan H80 and get similar temps.

Did you flush the rads before hooking everything up? Debris in the cpu block is a possibility.

i'm going to tear the loop down and clean and flush the rads again and strip the cpu block. might try the dual loop again if it's still no good

wish my chip would do that voltage @ 5ghz

just a thought remove one of the pumps see what temp u get then you could also connect fans to a controllor find the motherboards **** at controlling fans the way i want

right just waiting for some new stuff.i'm going to redo my loop . changing my vipers to gt 1850's and instead of 8 fans in push/pull pulling air in on the bottom 480 rad,i'm just going to have 4 gt's pushing air out of the case as there should'nt be hot air in the bottom.then have 3 gt's pulling air into the case at the top instead of pushing hot air out and through the 360 rad all on a 6 channel fan controller with splitter cables where needed.that way i can ramp up the fans when gaming.i'll do a 15 minute run of prime before i tear it down to record temps then do it again in the new config. hopefully i'll see a big difference.i'll also strip the cpu block but i don't think i'll find any sludge

EDIT, just ran prime for only 5 mins and got cpu-z showing 1.39 volts at 5000.7ghz and temps maxed at 76/86/90/86 so i turned it off.way too high for my liking so i'll rerun prime when i've made the changes for 5 minutes again

Was'nt there a problem with the HF Supreme block and the HT enabled sandybridges which is why they released the #6 plate? The new plate has a single 3mm wide slot down the middle so increases the water flow. If you have the spare blank plate you could cut a 3mm wide slot out in that or alternatively, take the centre section out of the two slot plate. Looking at your gpu temps there is nothing wrong with the cooling, just something going on with the cpu block.

Just a heads up but the EX series rads need at least 1200rpm fans to get the best out of them. Have a read of Bundymanias review here.

well i have vipers at the mo which are 1900rpm and am changing to the gt 1850rpm's so they should be good with the ex rads.interesting about the jet plate.i'll have a search and read about that.thanks

had a read about the new plate. i think i'll get the files out and open up the plate with 3 slots see how that works

ok,success. as i mentioned i replaced all my vipers with gentle typhoon 1850's. i changed my airflow from sucking hot air out through the top rad to pushing cold aire in throught the top rad now.i put all the gt 1850's on a fan controller.i stripped down my cpu block and it looked slightly blocked up with a fiberous material that looked like fluff. any way i got one of the spare jet plates i had which was the one with 2 long slots and 1 short slot either side and i opened up the 2 long slots making one wider slot in the middle with 1 short slot either side.the middle slot is now 3mm wide. i then ran prime for 5 minutes like before and instead of getting 76/86/90/86,now i am getting 58/65/68/64 with the fan controller set on max. i turned it down to min and i got a couple of degrees higher. so all in all a well spent couple of hours

probably a combination of things but i would say the plate mod does work yes. i certainly did'nt expect such a big drop in temps, we are talking a drop of around 20 degrees so i'm well happy
