This would be awesome for my uni hand in next week ( title : something or nothing).

How does "bulb mode" work with a d70 anyone ? and what example settings to use ?

Go full manual . Set to bulb mode . Focus with house light on the item yer using . Preferably with a remote but my battery was flat open shutter for 15-90 secs and swing lightsource .

I though it was gonna be hard but within 5 mins i had it dialed . Just mess about till you get it to work .

bulb mode is the setting after your maximum shutter speed (on my 450D its 30seconds)

This setting allows for any time period for your shutter to be open (handy for Infrared photographs)

Sussed it a while ago, before i was turning the camera off with the shutter open and back on again to close it, lol. (Nikon claim this is safe).

Nope, it wouldnt focus on anything on AF.

How do you set things up so you don't get the ceiling being illuminated ever so slightly as mine are coming out OK but I'm still getting the ceiling and some of the light the torch is hanging from being illuminated when going for a 30-90 sec exposure?

I guess one thing might be not to use a 3 LED torch like I'm doing currently as that splashes lots of light around - could try covering it as others have done so only a small dot of light comes out ...

The blue ones i did was a single led pen which i taped up the sides of the led and cut back a bik pen lid to narrow the beam . The red one is a 3 led bike light with all 3 led's taped round the sides .

As for focus i hang my led then lie on the floor and focus my shot in Auto then switch to manual and sit it on a pillow which gives about the same hight .

Am so glad I picked up a remote release as it's perfect for this - just shame I don't have enough different LED lights about to try this with!!

I taped 2 torches together, 1.30 minute exposure @ F/22. I put black leccy tape over the lenses and cut a very small hole in each one, also put a blue gel over one of them.

Gunna go try some more

ps. the main torch is on a strap, so the patterns are a little more random, because the torches spin round as well.
