on the 1st shot the car on the right looks pretty stretched and blurry, infact most of the right side looks blurry , this is what i noticed was wrong with my copy, except the left side was a little soft too, i thought i was maybe taking shots that were too close (if thats understandable?) so i took a few shots of a nice wide area but it still doesnt seem upto par
so ive just taken mine back and swapped it, i cant test the new one yet coz its chucking it down
update: ended up getting a refund, the 2nd copy i got was also not upto par. Infact the 2nd seemed to be worse than the 1st, I loved the wideness of the lens but the sharpness was just not there, also I wasnt happy that the lens cap didnt even fit properly.
So.. today i went and got a 17-40L that i had noticed on display at a local camera shop, got it for £520, and i also get £70 cashback which is an ok deal i think?
its not as wide as the 10-20 obviously but the image quality is superb, and to be honest i think this lens will get far more use than a 10-20, just need some decent weather now and enough time to go use it heh
I get the same with my 10-20. The edges are soft and can be stretched/blurred. I just thought it was due to the ultra wide angle. I'm happy with mine. Excellent lens imho.
after reading some of the comments on here i was beginning to think i had maybe been a bit too fussy but the copies i tried looked a lot softer. Anyways i`m happy with the 17-40 now and hopefully it will come to good use when i`m up back o`skiddaw in a few weeks
