Not Sure Where To Go From Here.

It may sound like a stupid question but can you think of when it started, was it after a new hardware or software install or did it just start out of the blue.
Another silly suggestion are you sure its hardware related, make sure your antivirus is up to date and run a scan, run MBAM and if Task Manager is unavailable after the event have it running on your desktop the whole time and when it locks up it should show cpu/memory usage at the time of lockup on screen.

I had a very similar issue with a z87 d3hp. Random lock ups, blue screens, reboots etc. I tried everything, different PSU/ram/drives/ two different boards... Numerous reinstalls.. Couldn't solve it.

Then I installed windows 8 and it was fine (was on 7). Can't explain why, must have been driver incompatibility :confused:

it could be corrupted driver/os idk,normally you don't have to mess with cpu/vtt with 8gb of ram but it wont hurt to try

That's a good question. Unfortunately, I can't be spot on about when it started, though I'm certain it was when I got this motherboard. I'm starting to think that it doesn't like my graphics card, as I don't recall having this issue when I was using a GTX480 / 570 (I've even read about AMD driver conflictions with this motherboard).

What is MBAM?

I don't have lockups at idle here,using 14.6 beta and yh I always use ddu now,i didn't used to

Well, I've just used DDU for the first time; it's quite a nice thought about starting over afresh.

as of right now im running a modded bios F18G i found start of the year which cured most of my problems. I say most but i do sometimes rarely get a lock up but no dropping usb any more.
My bro had the same board, chip and gpu and had exactly the same problem.

I am having a similar issue, seems I have had 2 days without incident, notice you have AMD, did you install HDMI sound drivers?

no I wouldn't thinkso,you have to use same make model bios for your board,there is also modded bios's with latest roms/drivers for the z77 d3h

Not specifically, no. After cleaning out everything with DDU, I just reinstalled the 14.6 beta driver.

id install only bios meant for your board. I have just upgraded to the newest modded for my board and the latest sound drivers from gigabyte all seems to be running fine

Well, so far so good. The problem has only made an appearance once in the last few days (#19), so it would seem that all is ok. I'll continue to update if things go awry / find improvements, etc. Hopefully, this thread will help others to iron out any issues too. Thanks very much to everyone that commented, especially Wazza. :cool:

The next thing I need to do is to look into pushing my cpu more.

theres a gigabyte z77 oc guide here,it starts at 4.5ghz though but you should manage that with a decent cooler

enter your own ram speed/timings voltages,everything else you don't see in the screenshots are fine on auto

nevermind 5 days without incident, seems HD sound drivers were not the issue

I'm not sure if this is directly related, but over the last few days I've had the mouse freeze, and the only way to do anything is to reset the pc. Again, I think this is an issue when watching a video on youtube. Just tried updating the bios to the latest (that I'm aware of) version : 23b. Why it resets to IDE mode, I've no idea. Set to ACHI, and all proceeded as expected.
