Their fault, their not supposed to roll registrations unless you request it.
Well, I know my webhosting was opt-out of auto renewals.
Thank you for contacting us.
I am sorry for this inconvenience, however, we had tried to contact you numerous times regarding these billing issues. We had sent a number of e-mails to the e-mail address on file and tried to freeze the account to get your attention. Unfortunately, the issue persisted for long enough to the point that we had sent the account to AFS, the collection agency. Please note that before the account entered collections, we had a far broader authority to assist you. Once an account is in collections, we are not allowed by our systems to access your invoices in any administrative way. We similarly cannot remove an account from collections unless it is proven that it is wholly the fault of 1and1 that the package was continued. Please resolve the issue with the collection agency and they will remove you from any list that they have. Thank you.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
If you continue to send me scripted responses to my emails then I shall simply ignore them.
To anybody reading this thread after Googling " Should I use 1&1 ". The answer is no.
Just had a look at 1&1 scams and wow the internet is full of people hating them
Even their Facebook page is full of very angry people![]()
To be honest, i've been a customer with 1&1 for 15+ years now. And, I find the service fantastic.
Last time I checked, when you sign up for any package with them it informs you that it will automatically renew unless canceled. Likewise you will have got at least 2, and sometimes 3 or 4 email reminders that the package renewal is coming up.
I've had a package roll over before which I meant to cancel, rang up their billing department, explained the situation, and they canceled the package (this was for an old dedicated server), didnt even bill me pro-rata either, just canceled it and credited my account for the full ammount.
I guess if you have gotten to the point of ignoring however many emails they must have sent you before freezing your account, its your own fault realy.
Way to go not reading the thread![]()
A couple of friends use 123-reg and have said good things about them, price isn't too bad either. Live Support too, so always a plus!
123-reg are awful, worst customer support I have ever had to deal with, they could barely speak English!
1&1 did this with me with a domain renewal in 2005. I just ignored them and they soon gave up.
