Notifications on forums

Rather see a mobile app instead of all the dislike/like rubbish

Maybe you should look at the merits of the forum system, rather than picking out one thing you don't personally agree with. ;)

Having said that, I think the base "like" system is much better than the advanced post ratings addon which AV use iirc. I think adding negative options only opens up potential for abuse over a positive only one.

My two wishes - neither of which will require a *single* upgrade to the core forum software.

1: The dark theme.
2: A div-based style, rather than the current tables-based layout, which displays better on a small phone screen.

Other than that, I don't think there's any inherent problems with vB3, and none of the extra features really bring much, only clutter.

I like the OcUK forums. I like vB (3) only.

The one thing OcUK could do, believe it or not, to make my life here even better is to remove the search wait. There is absolutely no reason in this day and age to inject a "you must wait x seconds before searching again".....

Indeed. Some user notes make for an interesting reading :D

The new AVForums look doesn't work properly on my work machine, and actually looks like a printed, text-only webpage from the early 90s.
Sounds like the page didn't load properly and the styling information didn't come through. Try forcing a refresh.

I would love some kind of notification system; not like/dislike, but if there was a thing that popped up to say that somebody had replied to your post or mentioned you in thread then that would be great

A reputation or thanks system would be nice.

Also I like the idea of when you've been quoted or mentioned. Not like or dislike etc.. that makes it too "Facebooky" for my liking,.

Another thing would be nice, a proper mobile theme where you can disable signatures and avatars without affecting your forumwide settings.

A rep system would be seriously abused on here. A thanks button would be useful though.

In before I'm negged by some misc lover.

It was abused on MacRumors. It was then done away with so you could only use it positively.

Isn't it weird how nearly every other site wants to be Facebook? why has nearly every site want to be Facebook clones?

I would like a notification thingy if i was quoted or mentioned, its annoying when i go into an old thread and someone responded to me or asked a question, and i completely ignored them.

I would be nice to have something a bit more easier to access for subbed threads also, its not a huge deal but going into the sub headings of user cp isn't too pronto

I'd rather the jump to the first unread post button actually worked before messing around with other stuff.
This. Exactly this. It's never worked properly (it does on other forums) and I wish it worked as intended here.

I'd like to see a different colour background for the replies in a thread from the OP. Doesn't have to be wildly different colours, just a shade or two different.

A notification if you are quoted is surely annoying. If you say something controversial or humorous you'll get about 30 emails.

Just search your username globally, or if you know the thread just "Search this Thread" for your name and it'll show the posts.

A notification would still be better.

Would anyone actively NOT want a notification for when a post of theirs has been quoted?

Most of the time when you're quoted it's someone going +1 or This. Or some silly 'Fixed.' post

Why do you need to be informed?

Would it leave you restless and insomnia prone to know that someone has potentially corrected you on the internet?
