specs just got changed on the site. infact all the minimum specs for all the games on that site were exactly the same! hmm

anyway this is what they recon now:

UBISOFT, DICE, ACTIVISION and other good game developers and publishers care about this stuff. They also involve fan sites heavily and allow them to preview their up-coming stuff.

Their only customers will end up being those who find a cheap game for their kid at walmart that can actually run on their computer.

That sums it up really. NL just can't keep up with the times.
 
Graphics look OK to me although they are typically 'grainy' as you normally find with Novalogic titles.

Specs look a bit more realistic now as 800meg HD space for a modern FPS seemed a bit low.

this is the latest news so far

I just wanted to take a minute and address the rampant amount of rumors about the DFAF beta. : )

We are planning on having a beta. It is not currently ongoing, nor has it been. There have not been any signups or invites issued. We have not decided how signups will work - it will probably not be open to the general public, but there is a good chance it will be open to NW/NW2 community members in good standing.

There is no set timeframe for the beta yet. The best guess I can offer is Q1 2009 - but again, that is not definite.
 
used to play DF online with a ping off 350 on my 56k modem, what i can remember was very playable lol
 
I loved the original.

IIRC the way you stabbed enemies with a knife, the animation was like pulling the knife towards you.

Made me laugh.
 
most sites at work are blocked, anyone got any news on this?

DF1 got us started Lan stylee. DF2 didn't really get a look in, DFLW was immense.

Knife only games were awesome, if you could convince everyone to do the same. Such a silent world with no nades!!!!
Stat servers hated us for that I am sure :)

Got a screenshot somewhere from a stat server with about 11 players all different squads standing on a roof POSING for the picture :)

Used to love being a medic with a G11 (I think) always aiming for max zone time.

I love Novalogic. I would really dig being a fly on the wall at their HQ. For some reason I just get this sense that they are a bunch of guys who don't seem to give a damn about anything except their specific DF template. They never seem to embrace the gaming world at large and just still focus on a 1998 gaming model.

The thing is I love that because I love DF and the fact Novalogic haven't gone under or been merged into a larger publisher in the last decade.

The reality is that nothing has ever come close to the epicness of DF1/2 sniping duals for me. I remember once having a one on one "cat and mouse" sniping battle with a player that went on for 20 mins at ranges exceeding 1500m. At the time, the graphics seemed off the chart. Remember the "grass" revelation the min it was confirmed DF2 would have foliage? I still remember a friend of mine at school saying it was obviously bs at the time.

I absolutely digged JO too but agree that DF1/2 and to a certain extent LW were the classic titles. I'm gonna get a new pc soon for OFP2/ARMA2 so will def be checking this new game out!
 
Round at my mates house on sundays playing on fly swatter, 3 of us, me flying a puma and the other 2 on the mini guns... man that used to be fun. straights of malacca.. yeah baby !!
 
Loved DF2, spent about 3 years playing it in various leagues..

Anyone remember any of the teams?? SBS, BOS, LAW, ~AS~... TWB to name a few?

Used to play search and destroy and the size of the maps, 16 vs 16 was awesome. Used to have to have a proper well thought out strategy to win against a skilled side. We used to spend hours prepping before a match. Nothing like the feeling when that training paid off, and you blew that last target after a tactical attack... immense :p
