Now that the format war won....

Im not worried i have a 360 over a ps3, because i bought it for gaming not HD movies.

I also have a wii.

PS3 is the worst of the 3 when it comes to gaming experiance, although i might pick one up in the future when i decide its worthwhile getting a blu-ray player, and i will only use the ps3 as a blu-ray player because the 360 games are cheaper and live is far superiour.

So yeah im not worried in the slightest, 360 is by far superiour for gaming.

Anyone else who recently purchased a 360 wish they had bought a PS3?

Have been catching myself looking at prices on Blu-ray players, and thinking "might as well buy a PS3". But I just bought a flippin 360, and just can't justify having two consoles...

Why? I have all three :p
Seriously though, if you just want it as a Blu Ray player then buy it.

Actually no scrap that, that's what I bought it for..... but now I have one there are a few games I want :o

Its funny how the 360 owners never blab on about the HD DVD but PS3 owners always go on about the blu-ray in the PS3 like its some sort of poor excuse for the lack of good games.

Nope. Only time I watch movies are streaming other than that I use it mainly for gaming which is what its ment for ;)

'cos the 360 doesn't make a very good DVD/HD DVD player. And it costs another £100 odd for the additional drive and no one wants HD-DVD right now :p

It's not "just what there meant for" anymore though, their media centers too. I'm game for more media crap for my money thats for sure.

Universal have just announced they will be releasing films on Blu-ray from now on, only a matter of time before Paramount & Dreamworks do the same I guess.

Press release from them

"The path for widespread adoption of the next-generation platform has finally become clear. Universal will continue its aggressive efforts to broaden awareness for hi-def’s unparalleled offerings in interactivity and connectivity, at an increasingly affordable price. The emergence of a single, high-definition format is cause for consumers, as well as the entire entertainment industry, to celebrate. While Universal values the close partnership we have shared with Toshiba, it is time to turn our focus to releasing new and catalog titles on Blu-ray."

Now I've owned one a for just over a week now I'm using it as a decent media extender, mp3 jukebox, a dvd player, blu-ray player, an upscaling CD player and for the odd game, would also be using it for SACD if I had the 60gb/80gb version, shame they dropped SACD support really, if I'm being honest though it was blu-ray that swayed me and the main reason why I traded in my 360 for it, end of the day it all comes down to what you want to use your cosole for, I see it as an amazing piece of hardware but definitely not the best games machine, maybe in the future that will change, I think PS3 is built for the long haul but I have a bad feeling M$ will try and rock the boat and bring out another console early to try and disrupt Sony but I fear this will do more damage to the games industry than good.

I bought my 360 for games so I'm not really bothered, I'd rather blu ray didnt win even though I have a ps3 and no hd-dvd player though as I'd like region free tv series (heroes mainly tbh =/)

The Blu-ray capabilities of the PS3 did not phase me in the least, because I was not interested in HD til the format war was won. Just wasn't expecting it to end so soon.

Sigh.

Isn't consoles for playing games on?

If anything it makes my PS3 purchase more justified, but that's about it. My 360 isn't going down in value any less.

Never gamble with format wars. Just hold off the players, and purchase any existing consoles on the strength of their library, not the format they support.

I dunno though, isn't this why the PS3 is starting to do a lot better because it supports Blu-Ray format? Hopefully i can read right what you said and im not talking jubberish :D

You've assumed that it was my intention to turn this into a PS3 vs 360 thing. Wrong - you dont know my intentions, you also misinterpereted my post - others took it in the way it was meant - why not you ?
Because I've read a lot of your posts in the past.

You've also misinterpereted the OP who is talking about 360 owners who now wished maybe that they'd bought a PS3 instead now that the format war has ended.
I never misinterpreted his post, his post is misguided.

My post is bang on relevent thank you.
Of course it is.

Stop it Nokkon - you're arguing for the sake of it. There was nothing wrong with my post so stop trying to justify your usual anal droning.

Who cares about Hi Def moives. I have over 500 dvds and I am not going to start buying them on Hi Def now over even in the future.

I dont have 500 DVD movies and havnt bought a DVD in 3 years (thank you broadband) but i will buy Blu Ray for full quality 1080/24 video and Uncompressed PCM audio. Particulary in new releases that appeal to me more so than old faves. I have the equipment so no point robbing myself in not getting the best from it. That why i have been and intend to get more BDs.

I want more and can appreciate the better than DVD experience.

Thats Sonys masterplan and its working as PS3 is a cracking good player butalso so much more. Quality and value for money, exactly the reasons its selling as a BD player.
