Hi guys - looking for some advice and to see if anyone else has used this NAS...

I started off impressed with this NAS, but am slowly losing my patience with it!

I'm trying to stream HD films from it in MKV format. I've transfered the files to the unit using an external drive with esata. Have it plugged into my Sky Sagem router with a cabled connection to my Panasonic BDT110 blu ray player and wireless to my desktop pc and laptop. Both PCs running Win7 and up to date, BR player has latest firmware.

TV shows seem to play fine (in MKV), but HD films only seem to play OK on my desktop. Both the Panny BR and my laptop suffer severe stutter, strangely, in exactly the same places in films. If I play the same film on my desktop there's no issue. Both the Panny and my laptop don't have a problem playing the very same files if they're either burnt to BR discs or played direct from an external hard drive. When monitoring the NAS during playback the CPU usage barely tops 5%. Example film I'm using is Green Lantern, both my laptop and my BR player start skipping and stuttering at about 1h08m30s, just as the Guardian is entering the fire in telling of Parallax origin.

I'm pretty confused as to what's casuing it. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you done the firmware update? I did it last week as it popped up when i logged in as admin. Not too impressed with it myself, had issues where it would crash explorer when browsing files, somehow it set it self to 5th 12 1967! This date confusion was causing havoc :D I don't use it to stream though, just file backup.

Yeah, got the latest 4.40

What has me confused is it's happening on wired and wireless. It suggests there's something wrong with the file, but then why does it play fine over ext usb hard drive and straight from the nas wireless to my desktop?? Bonkers!
