Number dyslexia

Exactly!
If people 'think' they are go and get tested, it is not an excuse most dyslexic people do everything in their power to do their best.
My younger sister is diagnosed number dyslexic, has problems writing numbers and other things but has a B in higher maths because she got the help she needed.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think I have any condition or anything. Humans tend to find patterns and numerical efforts difficult, some more than others, extreme or not. I would wager that a lot of people find such difficult. It's why all the banks put four lots of four numbers on their cards - easier to comprehend and read.

i've never seemed to have to much trouble before. all though my GCse's and A Levels nothing was ever picked up appart from my terrible spelling lol :p

but people at work have started picking up on things now, and the fact i now need to always read back numbers, if someone says the number all in one go, or even area code - pause - number, i get lost and have to ask then to start again.:(

i'll go and see a doctor and see what they say. i dont think im just being lazy, as i do really try as obviously at work it can be embarrassing

its only £200 for a test by a professional and only takes a few hours.

i had it done before uni and turns out that i am dyslexic. shame school never picked up on it now as extra time in my GCSE's would have been great.

Dyscalculia - I don't suffer from it personally, Cousin does, if you ask him to do maths in his head he can't do it i.e. ask him 20% of £502,000, with a piece of paper he's fine.

Are you sure that's not just poor at Maths? That's not the easiest sum in the world to do without a calculator anyway. Ask that on Weakest Link and 9/10 would get it wrong / fail to answer imo. I know WL isn't exactly Eggheads but it's representative of the general population.

Erm, 20% of £502,000 is a piece of cake :p

I agree with this. My year did exceptionally badly in higher English, only 4 of us got As, and one of them was dyslexic.

I have minor dyscalcullia i reckon.
I can't understand how anything other than the basic +-/* works really, I have to use a calculator and a bit of paper and any kind of formulae gets totally lost on me I just type it in and hope it's right. (which is annoying because my job sometimes requires me to do slightly complex maths)

I don't know whether thats normal not having a clue why a formula works but I can't remember what I don't understand so i'm amazed I got through education with good grades.
