Windows XP with 27 running processes, including non essential programs like AV, spoolsv, Samurize, MBM, uTorrent, MSN

I hit around 20-25 after a few days however.

I actually "use" my pc :p

Saying that though it's never slow or anything and I have 47 processes on average (plus pc never gets turned off!)

Gaming/Encoding/Movies/Music etc all done one after another if need be!

Well iv got 45 running, but i cant find run to go into the msconfig and edit them abit, any ideas?

Riiiight, cuz it's theoretically possible to multi-task with that amount of processes :p (I bet you don't use half of them frequently).

Seriously though, you not thought about terminating programs when you're not using them?

Maybe I should've called the thread, how many processes on startup. :D
 
whats the point in this? My laptop currently has 59 processed running, its not a monster spec machine, yet it runs just fine like that.

I can't terminate anything currently active, seriously I multitask allot and use every program running - I am not a novice user in this area in the slightest heh, you should see how clean and smooth running my system is and organised :)

The point is my curiosity if you read the first post and how you find your system with that amount. If you run 59 processes and your system runs fine, all the more power to you. No one ever said running more processes will equate to your own personal system being sluggish.

Once again, my curiosity was the point of this thread if you didn't get it the first time round. :)
 
Got it down to 39 now :p uninstalled gmail notifier and installed the firefox version and disabled the nvidia services



Looking good tbh though no performance difference ^_^
