Number Plates Fitting - Sticky pads instead of drilling?

I just used regular sticky pads. Got them from a hardware shop.

Yup, as do I for both front and back

Oh right, no, they usually come in a thin box thing.

Mine came on a reel like you get cellotape etc :D

Nothing wrong with double sided sticky foam pads.

Also, the new style plates with the Euro stripe down one side can be slightly squint and you can never tell, unlike the old plates where it stands out like a saw thumb.

The 1mm ones seem to be a bit crap, but the 6mm ones stick just fine, never had a plate fall off using those except for one special case where the front was very curved.

If the front of your car is very curved, you might want to bend the plate a bit before you stick it on otherwise it may well come off. Had this problem on the TT, fixed by sticking the plate in the front windscreen for a month in the middle of summer, wedged in the gap between dash and windscreen forcing it into a curved shape.

When I finally got around to having another go, the place was nicely curved and stayed on just fine.

Honest officer, it's just there while the sun bakes a curve into it so It will stick to the front of the car.

He wouldn't buy that in a month of Sundays. :D

Not on a Saxo, no :P

Is it actually illegal to put the FRONT plate in the windscreen though?
