NVIDIA 4000 Series

Basing hardware sales on the random steam survey is not the best indicator of a cards popularity. That guy who posts the mindfactory sales data shows the 7800xt outselling the 4070, that's more accurate than steam.
I'd agree that the Steam survey may have questions over its accuracy but all the Mindfactory data shows its sales from that particulier retailer in that region so its accuracy is questionable also.

Is this what people are refering too when they say the 7800XT is selling well but wont provide anything as its not on the December steam hardware stats though hats off to Mindfactory though as the amount of free advertsing they get by publishing their sales numbers seems worthwhile.
Reviewers have shone the spotlight on vram and gamers baulk at the sight of 12gb at £600 in 2024, 4070s will be another lame duck. I can guarantee the 5070 will ship with min 16gb.
The same gamers that have played a part in pushing pricing to the place its at now so I'm not sure if the VRAM is the main issue as even if the 4060ti 4070 had 24GB its still a card that costs £600.

If RTX4070 and RTX4070TI sales were fine Nvidia wouldn't have made a refresh.
They could have just dropped pricing but if sales where bad cards would not be as expensive as they are now if something is not selling the prices will generally go down. A example that comes to mind was the launch of AM5.

It's because Nvidia is desperately trying to normalize high prices across the board, they even stopped production or reduced rather than reducing prices.

That's the state of it sadly

Lol at all those new car owners who lose a lot the second they make the purchase! Right?
Actually yes lol.
Buying new isn't a great investment, but each to their own if you want a new car. Probably better leasing new though.

Having said that buying my 4090 wasn't smart but hey it was at least discounted lol

It's been well noted that the OCd AIB cards from Zotac will carry the price premium, the regular ones will remain Nvidia MSRP!

We all knew the price cut would only occur for the FE or budget AIO models. I bet the latter will be made is small quantities and will never come back into stock once they are all bought. The FE model is the only one worth considering.

Looks like I'll be sticking with my 2070S yet again.

These prices.... jokes
Same I think.
I was looking at the 4070 Super but, in a moment of clarity, I've decided to hold off for now.
My 2070 Super handles all the games I play easily with high settings. Do I need 200+ fps instead of 100+ which it currently does?

This is also why I've stuck to 1080p for now. Saves a lot of money :p

I have just given up now unless a very good deal appears. If the RTX4070 12GB had launched as an RTX4060TI 12GB at £400,I probably would have got one by now. If AMD even had launched the RX7800XT as an RX7700XT 16GB at around the same price a few months ago,I might have gotten that. But in the end I might as well wait now until the next generation, and it also means I won't be bothering to upgrade to AM5 until I absolutely need to(unless I find a very good deal before then).

It's the same with some friends I know - because they just got fedup with dGPU prices, they also just stuck with their existing CPUs.

Now the FE cards are actually one of the best options, the AIBs are stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they try to compete with the FE models then they'll hardly make any money, whilst the traditional ways of "adding value", via bigger more efficient coolers, don't really work any more and they get vilified for overcharging.

I'm sure all this is by design. We know Jenson would love nothing more than for NVidia to be the Apple of GPUs where the only option are their own FE models. They've already driven EVGA out of the market, who's next?
