NVIDIA 4000 Series

The GPU conector is 2x 9-pin on my PSu not the 12vhpwr on both ends like opn newer models so all's good as the pins are much bigger on the PSU end.

Don't do it!
Interesting fact, every time I check mine (visually, not unplugging it!), which is the original Corsair cable, there's a small gap between connector and GPU, less than 1mm but visible. And there's nothing I can do about it, it's locked in place, pushed fully in but the gap just shows anyway. I could push with a tank and it wouldn't remove it, as it's just a bit lose like that, the plastic bit. :) Jay shown Corsair cables having the metal connectors bit lose inside, so they don't keep plastic flush against the other bit - just how it was made. Can't wait to see it melt on some random day, though currently it's barely warm in touch on full stress test. :P

This is the same as my cable.

Was playing Stalker 2 for 3hrs straight last night and before closing the game down I opened the case to check the connectors
PSU end was room temperature, not warm at all and the GPU end was only slightly warm but that's because it's so close to the metal fan shroud of the card so gets some residual heat

Have you noticed a tiny gap on there GPU side though?

No, but if I remember correctly my old Corsair cable did have a very tiny gap
I was using a Corsair SF750 and ordered one of their Type 4 12VHPWR cables. The gap was too small to even fit a finger nail in, but it was there

So that's what I see too on their Type 4 12VHPWR cable. Still, guidelines generally say there should be no gap at all, so we'll see how it goes over the years.
