Think this is the driver. I read something yesterday about the 3000 series with same issue.
Possibly. I tried disabling hardware acceleration and it did not work. The issue seems to be the Desktop Window Manager process, which is part of Windows, but GPU usage drops to normal levels when I close Chrome or Edge. I've sent a help request to Google:
I am seeing 100% GPU utilisation with a Zotac RTX 4090 Trinity with hardware acceleration on or off. Chrome is version 106.0.5249.11 and is the 64 bit version. The issue also occurs with Microsoft Edge (also fully up to date), so I can rule out extensions. No tabs need be open.
In Task Manager it seems that the culprit is the Desktop Window Manager but if I close Chrome the GPU usage drops.
Reboots at all stages.
I have tried disabling GPU acceleration in the settings. I have gone into chrome://flags and disabled everything remotely GPU related, all without success.
Windows 10 x64 is fully up to date. Nvidia Geforce driver 522.25. I have tried reinstalling the video driver without success.
I previously had a RTX 3090 FE installed without problems.
