Nvidia 480 Flickering

just went into BIOS and found that PCI Express Frequency was set to 101 instead of 100. I pulled it back down to 100 but flickering still happening, and worse than ever now. Even when the PC has been off for 20 mins flickering starts as soon as I log in to windows...

Just done some googling and seems there a few people out there with same problem mate. So i bet it got nothing to do with your rig . Looks like you just have to sit it out and wait for new drivers.

Drivers are clearly not the problem here as it happens during post. Its a shame you havent got another card to swap it out with, or another monitor. Does your tv not have a pc input you can use to test? Pain the backside, but it may just give you some piece of mind.

I do have a spare 8800GT I could test but I was literally just running my 5850 until last week when this 480 arrived and never had any problems previously. the only thing to have changed since my 480 was installed was my new SSD and a few rearrangements of SATA ports.

But you did state that the 480 was working at some point as well, so its not clear which component is to blame. A quick swapout with the 8800 will give you a huge nudge in the right direction of where to look next.

problem SOLVED!

you'll never guess.... yesterday just before all this started i recalibrated my 3008WFP and set the brightness to 90% rather than 100% to get a really good quality calibration. It looks like my screen doesn't like anything less than 100%! As soon as the flickering starts I switch to 100% and it stops.

Faulty monitor or just bad design, either way it's cool because I have a replacement heading to me early next week.

Cheers for all your diagnostic help fellas!
