NVIDIA 5000 SERIES - ***NO COMPETITOR HINTING***

Yea the thing is. Us users who are on 30 series or older don't have a choice when it comes to upgrading our gpu to a brand new one. Not second hand

Yup, I held out on buying a 4080 for a 5080 and with one being discontinued, the only new choice I have is to have a go for a 5080.

I don't ever feel comfortable buying second hand GPUs, especially when they are commanding almost new prices, it's maddening to me.

This is the situation I'm in. Hindsight's a bitch! Those who got a 4090 at MSRP near lainch did pretty well for themselves.

Yea same. Not comfortable buying a used gpu that is only a couple of 100 quid off of a brand new 50 series. Day light robbery

You keep bringing this up like it makes it OK for Nvidia to do this. Nobody is saying you can’t upgrade, but for £1000 you are getting a 70 class GPU but should have been getting an 80 class GPU.

How many times do we need to clarify we are not disagreeing with you and people like you, we are just calling out the typical Nvidia crap.

Historically the 5080 should have been a 24GB cut down 5090 chip that was 10% faster than a 4090. That’s what you and anyone else looking to drop £1000 plus on a 5070Ti should have been getting.

It doesn't make it ok for Nvidia but what choice do we have?

At least people with 40 series can sit it out.

The only choice we have is to give up playing pc games then at high settings.

Might as well get a PS5 pro then

A wise man once said "just buy a 4090 and be done with it".

A truly wise man.
An even wiser man once said, "save yourself £600 and buy the 3rd fastest GPU instead. Better price to performance and more money in your pocket.". :D

Or… and here’s a novel idea, you could wait to see what AMD do with the 9070 XT price and performance. If they are giving you 10% less performance with the same VRAM, for £350 - £400 less than a 5080. It might even compel Nvidia to drop prices if it’s genuinely competitive.

Stop convincing yourself you don’t have a choice.

Performance leaks show the 9070 XT is about 40% faster than a 3080 in raster and RT with improvements to FSR. Hopefully they get the price right.

Looks like I'm still going to be waiting for at least 50% performance increase over my 3080fe for the same (or very close to) price I paid (£650)

Doesn't even look like the 5070Ti will manage that.

I'm not going to pay another 45% more money for what is approx 70% improvement.

Hardware releases are getting less and less interesting these days.

Hopefully the 9070XT will.

For £1000? You think they should sell a 24gb GPU that's faster than a 4090 for £1000? Why do all the angry 40 series owners keep conveniently forgetting that important detail? It's £200 cheaper than a 4080 was 2 years ago.

For the 5080 to have 24gb and faster than a 4090 there's no way it would be £1000. That card doesn't exist. A label is just a label. It's still a decent upgrade for 30 series owners, doesn't matter what they call it.

Yea no.

The 9070 won't be in the same ball park as the 5090.

Heck it will barely beat my 3090 if reports are true about it

Yeh. 2 months ago I was stoked to try my hand at grabbing a 5080FE today and a 4k screen
Going to save my cash and wait for the 5080ti/super/whatever, see if it improves things. 3080ti will keep me going for a while yet.

I don't know if its a driver issue that's causing the subpar performance but Nvidia needs to make price drop on the 5080 specially with 9070xt performance leaks and possible price points, If AMD release soon with £599 for the 9070xt, I could see many jumping ship given how bad Nvidia whole stack is looking. Honestly I was expecting total domination by leather jacket man but he has goofed up on performance to price.
